Season Ticket Total Later This Week
Season Ticket Total Later This Week
Monday, 12th Apr 2010 16:09

Town say they won’t know the total of early bird season ticket sales until later in the week. Saturday marked the deadline for purchasing season tickets at the cheapest prices.

A Ticket Office spokesperson said: "We have as many as 10 bags of post sitting unopened in the office. There is always a flood of applications that come in during the last week of the early bird offer and this year has been no exception.

"It will be at least another week before we have processed all the applications and have an idea of the take up on tickets."

Town, who have 15,950 season ticket holders for this season, froze prices for 2010/11.

Meanwhile, midfielder Carlos Edwards has admitted that he may have been too relaxed since joining the Blues in August: "Speaking very openly, maybe I've been taking things for granted.

"It's not just me who's been saying I'm too laid-back, the gaffer has mentioned it to me and so has my wife, so I have to prove them wrong."

Edwards, who has struggled to hit his best form since moving from Sunderland, says he expects to be part of Roy Keane’s squad next season when he sees the Blues making significant progress: "We just need to strengthen up in one or two places and I'm looking forward to the challenge and hopefully I can be here next season to help the team push for promotion.

"I have no concern that I won't be here next season but you never know, it's a strange game, but at this present time I'm fully committed to the team and the club and don't see any reason for me to be leaving unless the manager thinks otherwise."

I would imagine sales will up on last year as the team is definitely moving forwards and MOST the fans seem to have faith in Keane - just the usual handful of idiots on here that doubt him.

Edwards should be ashamed.
If he has been 'chillin' all season, why wait until now to confess? Why hasn't he been given the bullet.

It seems to me he is panicking about next year.
TBH, if he can't be bothered this season, why bother with him next.

maybe Town wages deopt will "chill" aboutr payiung him his wages this month !!

On thw subject of ST renewals - those that decide not to renew on the basis of this seasons form, may come to regret their decision this time next year!

What a disgrace Edwards is. He's taken money under false pretences. Get rid quick - A complete waste of time and money

Remember that the early bird deadline last year coincided with a "Jim out" campaign and we only got up to 15,950 later as a result of Keane's appointment and a subsequent price promotion. So, if the club tells us sales are in line with last year then that is worrying as there will be no "Keane effect" to add on later.

As for Edwards, he is a man Keane knows well from his Sunderland days and I thought he had been brought here because Keane knew he was the right type of person and a proven performer. He has been a gross disappointment and a total waste of big money so far, and at his age we are unlikely to recoup much or anything if we sell him.

Wallingford Blue - a great argument calling Keane doubters idiots. I will wait to see if next year is any better than this and if it is I will buy a rest of season ticket (there will be plenty!). You take the risk old boy but whose the idiot?

Wallingford, you are talking rubbish. I'm not a Keane hater, you just can't see through the media spin. If Keane has a whole load of players he wants to get rid of then he's going to bring a whole new lot it and guess what that means? The whole "Getting time to Gel" argument. I'm not buying it and hope you prove me wrong.

Wallingford - why is that anyone that doubts Keane an idiot? Maybe i think you're an idiot. Forwards yeah, if you count forwards as going so far back that the only feasible way is forwards.

I don't see where this notion that he WILL succeed if we keep him on long enough, comes from?? Like its his god given right to have wins in his pocket.

Yada yada yada, bobby robson didn't do well at first yada yada alex ferguson one game away from the sack. What about all the sh*t managers that clubs held onto and they f**ked them over and sp*nked all their money up the wall. What about all the teams that thought they were too good to get relegated. Its this weird optimism that results in complacency.

I don't know whether Keane is good or not, only time will tell but what really gets my goat is this notion that fans have in their head that he WILL sort it out, like its just a matter of time. Like 'i have this ingrained notion that cannot be dealt any blow, i will ingnore all evidence to the contrary, it MUST ultimately result in Keane getting us promoted, we are Ipswich Town, Keane is Keane, it has to happen, it just has to.' Its freaking bizarre. You're freaking bizarre.

Its just weird. Where do people get it from. Its weird. Just weird. Weirds me out. Stop it.

Weirdos.

I love town, i want them to succeed, but i don't ever assume that we will succeed based on this weird concept that we deserve it and its our right and its Keanes right. Thats just arrogant.

He's got a point though. How many home games this season can you honestly say have been value for money? We come to a football match to be entertained, not to listen to a load of wingy suffolk murmours.

tom the blue - if you are happy with this years dross, you go and buy your season ticket. I didn't say I wasn't going next season, I am just not going to be getting a season ticket. While Blackpool and Cardiff have a chance of the play offs, Ipswich are sitting below half way where we have been all year and it's just not funny. But hang on, we have pro-Keane fans who are happy with this and are under some impression that we will sail this league next year under their "golden boy" Boy are they wrong !!!!

august10 :

What you fail to understand , is that the vast majority of the players that are likely to be shown the door (probably as many as 10). NONE of them is a regular in the Town 1st team, so wont be missed - Further more of the 3 or 4 new players likely to come in (RK has stated he wants a smaller squad next season), they will probably gel within the first 1/4 of the season as they will be in the minority !

robbie scarlett, respect, when we talk about giving managers time, if we take a look up the road and see what Lamberts done for the budgies, he has done far too well for my liking!

It's the players' job to entertain the fans not just Keane's. Also, we all support Ipswich Town not Roy Keane. I'm still behind Keane and I have renewed my season ticket for next year.

I hope the season ticket response is decent, but in these trying times, you can't blame people if they don't want to renew. It's their choice. Personally, I have renewed, but I would never dream on telling others how to spend their hard earned cash.

I agree with the first post. I believe there is a small handful of people who choose to moan about Roy. I respect people like h32, but as I have saidon many occasions, I have no time for those who fail to post after a decent result, but post when we lose. Fans? Not for me I'm afraid.

Re Edwards - we have seen some decent showings, but on the whole, he has looked a little lazy ...

Perhaps Carlos will be a little less "chilled" from now on and a bit more "lively". Interesting the wording he uses, almost sounds as though Keane has told him he will get rid of him unless he improves? Too right as well, the money they earn the least they can do is put effort in and fully concentrate on pitch and in training.

Regarding season tickets, i only know of 1 person not renewing. I think numbers will be similar to this season with an increase at xmas if it looks like we have a chance of promotion

Interesting to see the differing views on renewal, thought supporters were in it for the long haul through thick and thin ..... as others have said there have been some positive signs recently although agree we need some new additions to the squad
Try supporting a Scottish team apart from the Old Firm you get a few highs and mostly more lows - but its in your blood !!

Wel, I've just renewed 2 season tickets and am hoping for better next season.

I'm not really interested in 'value for money' when it comes to supporting my team. For me, it's all about being there.

COYB!

I think that most of us who have been s/t holders for some time and are in it for the long haul (and can still afford it!) will renew.

Clearly it's been a dissapointing season - but I'd still rather be at PR, than be shopping or decorating on a Saturday afternoon!

Quite right Somersham. It would be agony to be stuck in the house or in M&S knowing something is going on at PR.
