Tottenham Confirm Town Friendly
Tottenham Confirm Town Friendly
Friday, 18th Jun 2010 10:20

Tottenham have confirmed that they will be sending a side to take on the Blues in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday 3rd August (KO 7.45pm). The official Tottenham website refers to the side they’re sending as a ‘Spurs XI’ with Tim Sherwood assistant first team coach in charge.

The Premier League side also play Benfica in Lisbon the same night, but Tottenham say they expect to include a number senior players in their squad: “The team on the night could include first team players at different stages of their pre-season preparations, along with players seeking to break into the senior group.”

Former loanee Giovani Dos Santos could be involved, although it's widely expected that the Mexican international, who is currently impressing at the World Cup, will move on this summer with Galatasaray, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, and Benfica amongst those interested.

TWTD was first to reveal that Town were in talks with Spurs regarding a friendly earlier in the week. Tickets will cost from £2 to £15.

Also already confirmed is West Ham’s visit to Portman Road on Saturday 31st July, while the Blues will travel to Southend on Friday 9th July.

Town are also pencilled in to play PSV in Eindhoven on Saturday 17th July, but this game is still to be confirmed. Further Dutch friendlies are also in the club’s pre-season plans.

West Ham, Spurs, PSV and Southend Utd. I hope we've a strong squad for Southend! Decent games each providing different challenges, I think pre-season is shaping up well.

I know everyone will jump on the Wickham deal, but a friendly is hardly going to be the handshake of a multi million £ deal, would it. . . . arhh add Lazio to that list!

Is this how far we've fallen, that Spurs don't take us seriously enough to send a first team squad, quite depressing really.

Have you seen the Spurs Reserve team list recently? Bent used to frequent that often enough, oh I see your point!

It's not like their reserves are crap - let's not forget that, eh guys?

I'm definitely going. Spurs are my second-favourite team. Let's give 'em a pasting! BLUE ARMY!

Yeah we're going to sell wickham for a friendly against spurs reserves and we've fallen so far spurs dont send their first team! Some people have brains so small that folk in Narwich are jealous. The game is 4 days before the first game of the season....quite clearly Keane wants us to start the season in good shape so has lined up an additional game probably to give our squad members a runout. Why is there such an obsession with negativity amongst some fans??

A Spurs X1 on the same night as their proper team have a game, it is really embarrassing. This is like treating us as some non-league minnow.

An insult not to send their first team? Lets hope we win then or it will only give the anti Keane brigade more to moan about.

Wasn't it a tottenham young winger that we are supposedly interested in? If so then hopefully they will place him in that XI and give us and Keano and real good look at him so that we can see what he is like on the pitch.

Funny how Pro Keane supporters can admit when things havent gone right, when Keane has made mistakes etc.

Yet when it comes to the Keane out brigade its finding anything negative in EVERY single story placed on this website.

I mean picking holes in a friendly game for christs sake. It's called a friendly for a reason!

I really don't see the point in sending a Spurs XI. I would rather see them send a near full strength squad.

A game at Portman Road between Ipswich squad players and Tottenham reserves, and tickets cost up to £15?! I don't see the turnstyles spinning for this one.

Good teams for pre season , dont matter if spurs dont send a strong squad keane is proving he can bring big teams to PR.Thoes that say west ham and spurs and PSV aint big teams then there wrong they play in the PL and Dutch league. Also Spurs are playing in the Champions League!

Norwich played a Man Utd XI in pre-season last year as a League One team and this time then have Everton and Newcastle going to Carrow Road, so I don't see how matches against a Spurs XI (the same night their first team 11 + substitutes play elsewhere) and West Ham proves anything about Keane's ability to attract big clubs.

maybe resting a few players after world cup .... crouch, defoe, dawson, lennon etc ...... think that'll explain the Spurs X1 BIT .....

rolly added 18:20 - Jun 19
Well I hope gio plays if his still at spurs well the only way I wouldn't want him playing is if he is on our bench resting for the boro game !
