Tottenham Confirm Town Friendly

Tottenham have confirmed that they will be sending a side to take on the Blues in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday 3rd August (KO 7.45pm). The official Tottenham website refers to the side they’re sending as a ‘Spurs XI’ with Tim Sherwood assistant first team coach in charge.

The Premier League side also play Benfica in Lisbon the same night, but Tottenham say they expect to include a number senior players in their squad: “The team on the night could include first team players at different stages of their pre-season preparations, along with players seeking to break into the senior group.”

Former loanee Giovani Dos Santos could be involved, although it's widely expected that the Mexican international, who is currently impressing at the World Cup, will move on this summer with Galatasaray, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, and Benfica amongst those interested.

TWTD was first to reveal that Town were in talks with Spurs regarding a friendly earlier in the week. Tickets will cost from £2 to £15.

Also already confirmed is West Ham’s visit to Portman Road on Saturday 31st July, while the Blues will travel to Southend on Friday 9th July.

Town are also pencilled in to play PSV in Eindhoven on Saturday 17th July, but this game is still to be confirmed. Further Dutch friendlies are also in the club’s pre-season plans.

4 days before the season starts! I hope we play our reserves in which case no point going at £15 a pop. If we play the first XI then Keane/Clegg have less than the five brain cells between them that I already believe

a third string XI (like Harry is not going to take at least 20 or more squad players to Spain with him) managed by an ex budgie, great that will get the crowds rolling in. the more things change the more they stay the same at this club.
