Upson Joins Yeovil Friday, 2nd Jul 2010 14:32
Released midfielder Ed Upson has joined Yeovil Town on a two-year contract. The 20-year-old’s deal with the Blues was not renewed at the end of the season.
Upson, who had a spell on loan at Barnet late last season, made two senior appearances for Town, both as a sub in the Carling Cup.
The Bury-born midfielder will be best remembered at Portman Road for scoring the winning goal in the second leg of the 2005 FA Youth Cup final victory over Southampton, having come on as a sub while still a schoolboy.
Upson, who also had a spell on loan at Stevenage and won England U19 caps while with the Blues, will be reunited with former team-mate Dean Bowditch at Huish Park.

Joeippy.... Hang on matey, lets look at this in a cold and calculated manner... Upson never showed the promise of really making it big, so really with Town planning a move up, it's a bit too far for him. As far as Trotter is concerned it was the fans who did for him. He was a regular at the start of last year and in my view going in the right direction for a young lad from the Youth team, BUT the fans really started getting on his back and eventually he was dropped. A good loan move to Millwall later and they wanted to sign him, (As we did, Keane had offered him another year) What would you do in his shoes? Go play first team football for a club that the fans love you and support you, or stay at the (Slightly) bigger club, only be a backup at best and have fans the last time you played on a regular basis, gave you the bird? A no brainer really. So how's that Keane's fault? he tried to sue him last year and the fans got on his back, he tried to keep him this year, but he had a more attractive (see above, not talking money here) offer elsewhere? Look I'm not saying Keane's the best thing since sliced bread, but I also don't blame him for things he isn't a t fault for....

generalpublic... When you say Roy Keane has never showed the promise of making it big; do you include the fact he took over at Sunderland with them lanquishing near the bottom of the Championship and got them promoted the same season? He then kept them there the following year (a feat in itself these days) before walking away when the board started telling him how to manage and who to pick! Now I'm not saying he's the messiah, but I think your statement undervalues his Managerial achievements to date... he siad when he came he needed two years to get us promoted, and although we really didn't see that many signs last year, you have to give him this season (only his second) to turn it around. How did the late great Sir Bobby Robson do in his first couple of years? Not too well if memory serves me right. Keane will have learnt from last year and for all his tough man attitude, he also appears to be a very intelligent guy, he'll learn and make it better in the coming months... Well I still believe anyway (I don't know why I do, but I do...)

Well said SiBo. I, and I'm sure many others as well, have been put off going on here by the pointless ill-considered negativity that has filled this site of late. If people have to be negative they should at least have reasoned, logical arguments to back it up rather than tabloid-esque twaddle

Dalty... you shouldn't be put off by these people... just use logical arguments to disagree with them... And a bit of faith! You gotta have faith... (that's a song isn't it?)
