Civelli Targeting Start of Season
Civelli Targeting Start of Season
Saturday, 10th Jul 2010 09:06

Midfielder Luciano Civelli says he hopes to be fit enough to be involved when the Blues start their season at Middlesbrough on August 7th. The Argentinian made his second sub appearance since his return from 16 months out with a knee ligament injury during last night’s 6-0 win at Histon.

Civelli says that despite his lengthy absence he tried to remain upbeat: “It was a very long time, but I always tried to be positive.

“It was hard but my return is going better than I thought and now that I’m fit, I’m sure that I will be ready for the season, or two or three matches after the beginning of the season. I’m very happy at the moment.”

The 23-year-old says that so far the knee is giving him no problems: “There’s been no reaction. I hope to improve my fitness a lot and also improve on the ball, but the important thing is that the knee is fine.”

Civelli made eight appearances for the Blues after signing from Argentinian side Banfield for £1.1 million in January 2009, suffering his injury two months later in the 1-1 home draw with Burnley.

we would prefer if he targets the oppositions goal. but the way things are at the club at the moment anyone having any sort of target' whether duck shooting or playing darts would have to be seen in a positive light. well done lad

Very pleased to see Civelli back - but he didn't look match fit last night. Hopefully a few more games will help!

Phil, being anal, isn't it 'Argentine', rather than 'Argentinian'?

That dodgy knee is not going to last against some of the hatchet men in the Championship. Or in a training match if Keane is on the opposite team to Luca !!!
