Town Miss Out on Celtic Youngster
Town Miss Out on Celtic Youngster

Town are reported to be one of a number of clubs to have missed out on signing Celtic youngster Graham Carey on loan. The Blues, Wolves, Wigan and Blackpool are all claimed to have been chasing the 21-year-old, who instead will join League One Huddersfield for the first half of the season.

Left-back or left winger Carey, who has been capped at U21 level by the Republic of Ireland, was a youth player with Shelbourne before moving to Parkhead in 2005.

Carey spent the second half of last season on loan at St Mirren, having played alongside Brian Murphy at Bohemians during another short-term spell late in 2008/09.

Meanwhile, another left-sided player believed to have been in Town's sights, George Boyd, has signed a new three-year deal with Peterborough. The move comes as a surprise with the 24-year-old midfielder having been expected to leave London Road this summer.

Wow, aren't we doing well?!
We're now losing out to league 1 clubs!!!

Keane's got to get a grip, and get an assistant in with some knowledge and power to get players in!

It's all set up for Civelli on the left of midfield

I agree that Civelli is likely to be the only new addition to the Squad, if not the first Team. Not sure he'll have an impact for the first few games with 20mins here and there as he gets match fit, which is ironic as he'll need much more than that!

Keep waiting for that big news story . . . maybe tomorrow Roy?

I am NOT a Keane hater and was over the moon at his appointment but as time goes on it seems apparent that nobody wants to play for Roy Keane through fear or whatever but I reckon joining Ipswich now is like joining the army which is probably the only reason Wickham is hanging around!

jeez, calm down ladies, league one is probably his level. If he isn't good enough for Celtic he probably aint good enough for us given the current demise of the old firm clubs.

Plus this is only REPORTED interest which probably means its rubbish, lay off Keane at least until we've played a few games!

svendust, normally id agree with u when u say lay off keane til a few games bin played, but fact is his performance in the close season as it was during last season, & while i not anti keane it has 2 b said that things dont bode well 4 the forthcoming season. if ne1 thinks the squad we have now is gud enuf then theyre kidding themselves

shld have read, his performance in the close season is as bad as it was during last season

the story says that town, it had been CLAIMED, we were interested along with premier league clubs and he ended up at Huddersfield. Thats a strange one for a lad who has languished at Celtic for 5 years? I cant see this particular story is any reflection on Keane or Town.

Also quite possible that Huddersfield said he would play every week, whilst we, along with other teams from champ and prem just wanted him as back up. Hence Celtic preferred him to go to Huddersfield. I'm not saying this is what happened, just that it is quite possible. Any excuse to be negative for some tho....

More great transfer business by our "messiah" !!!! Face it, we are stuck with the same sh!t we had last season and we are even weaker now that our loan players have returned to their parent club. Even Waghorn is rumoured to be heading to Hull on loan although some naive fans would have you believe he is coming down here to the sticks to play under Sargeant Major Dimwit.

Keane out !!!!!

is it really less than a month till start of season ? thought all of our new players would be settled in , we would all have renewed hope . NOPE !

It's amazing how all these players just can't wait to play for the legendary Roy (I think I'm wonderful) Keane.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is keeping his fingers crossed after young striker Martyn Waghorn was stretchered off during Tuesday's friendly victory over a Munster XI.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Leicester, damaged a knee after scoring twice at Thomond park in Limerick as the Black Cats opened their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win.

Bruce has high hopes for the youngster this season.

1. Well done, you found the 'Caps Lock' button.
2. We probably weren't interested in him, as normal lazy journalism, linking players from Keane's past with us.
3. Waghorn would be great, but it is unlikely
4. What is 'joeippy01's obsession with Kandol? He's rubbish!

All we need top do is wait until the last few days of the transfer window. Then Ipswich and Keane will be a lot more attractive to these free agent players that have no clubs and no other clubs want to sign. Simple Keano? A bit like yourself !!!!

brittaniaman added 14:33 - Jul 14
I read that Simon Jackson is on the verge of signing for Norwich, where are they getting there money from ?? DELIA ???. or What !!!!!
That means that they have signed the best part of a new team this summer !!!!
If Keano cannot get our weakend squad on some sort of form this season, god help us !!! we will not be able to compete
