Swansea Linked With Priskin Move
Swansea Linked With Priskin Move
Wednesday, 21st Jul 2010 09:07

New Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers is reported to be targeting Town striker Tamás Priskin. The Hungarian international had his most successful season in English football playing under Rodgers at Watford prior to his £1.7 million move to the Blues last summer.

Despite last year’s poor showing, when he scored twice for Town before being sent out on loan at QPR, Priskin was not one of the eight players made available for transfer earlier in the summer. So far in pre-season, the 23-year-old has been a regular starter in Roy Keane's side.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United have confirmed that they will pay the wages of former Blues loanee Simon Walton for the entire season, despite the on-loan Plymouth player picking up a season-ending cruciate knee ligament injury.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell said: "He is contracted to us for this season so we are responsible for his wages."

The 22-year-old only moved to Bramall Lane last week and suffered the injury in a friendly against Mansfield.

Elsewhere, former defender Titus Bramble is set to join Sunderland from Wigan. The clubs have agreed a reported £1 million fee and the 29-year-old is to hold talks regarding personal terms and undergo a medical at the Stadium of Light.

Cut our loses and take any offer to get rid. Worst forward since Sam Parkin

One subtle undertone to this story (and the potential Walters transfer) - the more other forwards that we sell/move out, the less likely that Wickham is to go! After all, we can't sell them ALL, can we ...?

We could re-coup around about £1 million of the transfer then I think it would be the best all round to let Priskin go. He's not up the job, shame as he came with such good potential! Could still come good but I just cant see it.

Anyone at Swansea we could trade with, Pratley perhaps???

Sometimes things in football just dont work out for a player and I believe this has been the case with priskin. Came here having scored 14 goals for Watford in the championship so obv has potential there somewhere. But lets be honest he has been quite frankly awful for us. For me it wasn't the fact that he wasn't scoring goals, coz strikers go through barren spells from time to time, but it was the fact he often appeared to be lazy, lethargic and jus dis interested, that and the fact as a professional player he got caught offside so many bloody times !!! if we are able to get bk most of what we paid then move him on, free up wages for a decent replacement, whether that be chopra or any1 else. could we do a swap deal for SHEFKI KUQI ?????

Look lets get rid of Priskin if its sold or on loan and make a bid for lambert from southampton and roberts from blackburn

I don't think Priskin has been given a decent enough run in the side to be comprehensively judged, but then again he has hardly grabbed what chances he has had with both hands and has looked poor again so far in preseason.

Wouldn't be unhappy to see the back of him at the right price, especially if it means we sign someone else.

Having seen him play against Newmarket and Histon I couldn't believe that Keane played Priskin out wide in a 4-3-3 against PSV!!! This specialist position requires great energy to make up 5 in midfield when you're defending and 3 up front when you're attacking. Priskin is the most lethargic player in the squad!!! I think we would have to accept a huge loss on him though, around 750k to 1 million, but if it meant Chopra coming in then it would be worth it imo

Should be biting swansea's hand off for this deal...maybe we could get Anrea Orlandi here in part of the deal - very good central Playmaker and I think he's available on a free.

Bit loss at the moment as Marcus Evans came here to get Ipswich in the Prem. I can see his point in the fact that he has pilled 60 million in the club and would like to see a return for his money. So no new players till we reduce the wage bill, fair point.
However Murphy, Healy, Rosenior, Colbeck all returned to their clubs. Wright R, Wright D, Trotter,Balkenstien all there contracts not renewed, 8 on the transfer list most who's contract are up by the end of the season. So we must be saving 50k to 80k a week thats 2.6 to 4 million a year.
If we come bottom of the Prem thats a min of 30 Million with another 48 Million over the next 4 years. Surely it worth going for these 5 players that Kenae wants as two of them are free agents as we will be at least 10 players less than we are now by the end of the season.
I see a bright future with Smith and O'Connor but are they ready now to take us up, Will Ceilli be the player he was a year ago.
Wickham yes I think he will do very well this year, but ther seems to be alot expect these 4 players to take us from a average side to a Championship winning side. COYB

NOW GO! "Walk out the door, Don't turn around now, 'cause your not welcome anymore!!........ Ok a little harsh! But any offer from anyone should be accepted for Priskin, to allow RK,SC,ME to sort out some much needed replacements.

Dont understand why priskin has not done well at the club, maybe is confidence is low after a bad start. If he moves to swansea, watch him do well.

If we do manage to offlload him, i would love to see chopra or hooper here and why not go for whittingham aswell, any of those would be a great asset to our club.

As im new on here, im a great admirer of Keane, has not had the best start, but did have to take over from the crap that magiliton left us in. If you check his match reports he never blames the players for the loses, and he is trying to bring in new blood, but after having talks with clegg the deals are not being done. Is that is fault. I really hope keane does well next season with the current squad maybe the fans well change their minds about him.

Dont forget it was Keane, who introduced Smith and Wickham to the first team and look at them now. Need I say more.

Up the town next season!!!!

In all seriousness now, the guy scored 14 goals for watford, now to me thats not anything fantastic to start off with let alone 1.7m!! I have seen enough of him to cast my judgment and the guy is woeful, sell him, move on, simples.
