Garvan and Hourihane Called Up Tuesday, 27th Jul 2010 16:07
Midfielders Owen Garvan and Conor Hourihane have been called up to the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for their 2011 European Championship qualifier against Estonia next month.
The call means the pair will miss Town’s Carling Cup tie at Exeter which is the same night as the Estonia game. Full-back Shane O'Connor is on standby for the squad.
Garvan has captained the U21s a number of times and has won 15 caps, scoring four goals, while Hourihane is yet to make his debut at this level but was a regular in the U19s.

I'm surprised Owen still qualifies. Is 1st Jan the cut-off?

Isn't Garvan like 28 or something? Seems like it.

Yeah RobbieScarlatti Garvan does seem to be young for ages. Hasn't he been playing for us for about 5 seasons now?

Funny Garvan is good enough for his national side and deemed not good enough for us!

thats because ireland know when they see a decent player..where as keane who walked out on his country at the most crucial time is all ego and couldnt spot a decent player if one bit him on the bum.thats why we are trying to sell last years mistakes

Garvan isnt good enough for his international side, that is why he is playing for the Under 21's at the age of 22.

suffolksam; if a decent player did bite RK on the bum, I suspect he would notice him... he likes players with a bit of bite... hence part of the reason he's not keen on Garvan. Personally I don't see the big fuss on Garvan... showed promise early doors, but never took it forward from there. I suspect half the people who rave about him only do so coz RK doesn't appear to rate him and it's another excuse to "have a go" at RK.
