Kennedy Move Edges Closer Wednesday, 28th Jul 2010 09:39
Cardiff left-back Mark Kennedy is understood to have undergone his Town medical last night ahead of his £75,000 switch to the Blues. The clubs agreed the fee late last week with the 34-year-old now believed to be talking personal terms with Town.
Striker Kevin Lisbie appears likely to be the next current squad member to move on with Millwall discussing a loan switch with the Blues.
Owen Garvan continues to weigh up whether to join Crystal Palace in a £225,000 deal, while Alex Bruce’s move to Sheffield United is still up in the air. The central defender agreed personal terms at Bramall Lane at the weekend but the clubs are yet to conclude the terms of the deal which would see the Irish international become a Blade.
Striker Jon Stead was reportedly expected for talks at Bristol City yesterday with the Blues and Robins understood to have agreed a £200,000 fee, while Jon Walters may also join the Portman Road exodus with QPR and Stoke having targeted the Town skipper.
Elsewhere, former Blue Jermaine Wright, 34, has joined Ryman League Premier Division side Croydon Athletic having left Blackpool a year ago.

Ooh I can't wait, with half the team up for grabs and just Mark Kennedy on his way Keane deserves a medal.

It's clear that Keane is now getting his own back on the Evans Group decision to deny him money for transfers, by deliberately wrecking what's left of the squad before he jumps / gets pushed. This period in ITFC's history will be looked back on with astonishment and horror.

Agree RetroBlue, it does not look very good with all these injuries mounting and an increasing list of exits. I do hope there is a few other deals simmering in the background to bring players in, if not we look very light. The preparation for this season has been far from great IMO with friendlies of any note limited to 2 or 3 games and several much lower league games. I do hope we get a much better start than last year if not the numbers through the gates will drop off and the next name on the exit list will be RK!

It is a long time since we have been in such a mess as this. Nothing seems to come out of the Club any more partly due I am sure to the local press knocking the Club the whole time with negative undertones. I hope Keane knows what he is doing because at the moment the line up for Middlesbrough looks horrendously inadequate. Sorry to be so negative myself but can you name 3 Clubs in a worse state than us in our division? Even the likes of Scunthorpe and Barnsley and Watford have settled line ups. We need something concrete in the way of signings not just speculation so please lets have some good news for a change.

DALEYITFC - I doubt Keane is deliberately trying to screw the board; although I don't know the guy, I'd imagine even RK is not silly enough to damage his reputation as well as the clubs/board if he wants to remain in management with any club/ITFC. However, having always been disappointed at RK's appointment from day 1, just reading the reports on TWTD and other news sites, the state our club appears to be getting in is VERY depressing reading. I think rather than finger pointing at RK (who I believe has his hands well and truly tied) we need to look at the bigger picture and try to fathom out just what the hell is happening here as there are some serious questions to be answered (would like to hear peoples thoughts): 1) Why can't we seem to attract players (all our targets seem to go elsewhere or not want to come full stop). 2) Why is our wage bill such a concern as ME seemed to promise to give our club his financial backing? 3) Are the board really behind RK as he seems to be banging his head against a brick wall? 4) is Ipswich Council doing enough to promote the town (I live in Kent so don't know I'm afraid) to make it an attractive place for players to come to? 5) Just who the hell is Marcus Evans??? 6) Our 2-year plan to win promotion appears to be so off the mark it's untrue, are the management actually bothered by this and what is their short term solution for this season? 7) Is RK committed to the club (I think he actually is) or has he given up and doing a Raffer Benitez and waiting for a pay off??? 8) Team spirit - do we have any??? Take Lisbie for example, why the hell are we letting the guy openly slate the club and why have we not shifted him sooner? Lots of questions, not many answers coming from the right channels I feel. HOWEVER season has not kicked off yet and there is still time. But my gut says the above questions may answer some of the reasons we just seem to be slipping very quickly into mediocrity!

I am so surprised as to what little transfer value our players exiting are being rumoured to be fetching, Stead, Garvan, Bruce, the trio only supposed to fetch approx £650,000 in complete total also £400,000 for Priskin if Swansea are really interested and maybe at best that figure for Martin too. Yet we can't seem to get a fee at all for Lisbie? Only loan deals, seems bleedin odd I think. Bobby Robson never made a loss on his dealings at the club in all those years he was in charge... also It's good to see Jermaine Wright find his level at last [Ryman League], never a player I warmed too at all, bleedin' uninspiring, but I actually would place him ahead of Peters: Should Keane play [Peters] that joke of a right back of the Mickey Mouse school of defending then we are in for big trouble at the back, the closest he should be to the pitch is as a ‘Ball Boy' He'll never be a [Norman Hunter — Peter Storey I bite yer legs] defender, and is as toothless as a goldfish.

Retro Blue You missed out Trotter and Blankstein. I cant see Walters going as Keane speaks very highly of him and he was our top scorer last year (think thats just to add more drama to this story as with the Quinn and Cielli injury), You could also say that possible Wickham could be on his way too. However looks like we will have a new keeper soon, that will give us 2 good keepers. I do hope Keane has is keeping his cards close to his chest and there are a few signing in the wings. If Walters stay's and we get a Chopra and Finnan plus Kennady and Fulop, it could be a good season. At the moment I fear for the season.

Not many people saying "in keane we trust" anymore, are there?! We're fast becoming a laughing stock. Sadly Marcus Evans has been the kiss of death on this club...he's got what he deserves by appointing a manager for promotional reasons rather than the good of the club and we're now seriously paying the price. The sad thing is it could've (and still could) all be put right with the right managerial appointment...Burley,Coppel have been lost, still time for Curbishley "IF YOU PULL YOUR SODDING FINGER OUT MARCUS"!!! WAKE UP MAN!

I think Kennedy will be good this year. Steady and experienced. Still not "wowed" though.

One point, it seem to be the same people who comment on here and some moan about any player we are linked too, so there views are always going to be anti Keane/Ipswich/Evans. When Bobby Robson started the so called fans were calling for his head and look where he took us!!!! (R.I.P Sir Bobby). Maybe just maybe if we get promoted Keane will be the best thing since sliced bread he did get Sunderland up.

This is a good, neccesary transfer for a decent, experienced player. There will be a few more before the season starts, hopefully a right back, central midfielder, as backup to the current two, and 2 decent strikers. I saw Jason Scotland may be available on loan, he would be a great signing, guarenteed goals at this level.

Starting to move now. I still think RK has a major signing or 2 he is keeping very quite. RK must be a good poker player !!!!!!

KARLOS - It's all very well saying 'IF'... You're right, IF we got promoted or even got in the top 6 I'm sure most people would be delighted. I'm not one to wish for failure to force change; but the issue here is there are 23 other teams in the division and yes some may have thier problems, but we're about to start the campaign with a small (potentially unfit) squad, have made no real headway in regards to building a better team for this year, there seems to be problems behind the scenes (well thats the conclusion I'd draw) and the promises made last season seem to be so far off in the distance, very few of us can see them being realised right now. Football is a fickle game but that is the nature of the beast. I think even the most downbeat posters on here would welcome a great season under ME and RK, but frankly there is NOTHING coming out of the club that suggests that will happen. I'm very much flying the 'prove me wrong flag' but they say if it's not broken don't fix it... from my point of view something is badly broken here and it's not looking to be fixed any time soon, which leaves us behind the other 23 teams and gives big cause for concern!

CatsWhiskers: The reason we are offering players at low prices is so that the players can get a hefty signing on fee at their new Club to compensate for the loss of a high salary that they ridiculously enjoyed at ITFC. Its not just getting a price for the player its getting rid of the extortionate salaries as well. Thank you Jim Magilton for extending contracts of Pablo, Garvan and Quinn !!

sirbenofmorlingshire, spot on! just to add to your post I find it strange how Keane has now decided not to have an assistant, is this because any potential assistant is fearful that after relocating, if Keane doesn't get off to a flyer, he may not be here very long? Or is it because ME & SC dont want to fund an assistant for the same reasons? They may have to pay up a second contract after only a number of weeks. A distinct lack of signings after lots of promises at the end of last season, I agree with you,........ serious behind the scenes problems.
