Bruce Makes Shock Leeds Switch
Bruce Makes Shock Leeds Switch
Wednesday, 28th Jul 2010 13:08

Town defender Alex Bruce is to make a shock switch to newly-promoted Championship side Leeds United. The Republic of Ireland international had been due to join Sheffield United but the deal stalled after the Blues and Blades were unable to agree a fee.

Bruce, who watched last night’s friendly at Leiston, agreed personal terms at Sheffield United at the weekend and had been expected to complete the move early this week until the stalemate regarding the fee.

Leeds have now offered the Blues the £200,000 rising to £300,000 on appearances that they are after for the 25-year-old, who will undergo a medical in West Yorkshire tomorrow morning before formally joining ex-team-mate Richard Naylor at Elland Road.

I can hardly comprehend the shambolic attempt that imbecile has made at managing our great football club.

You do all know that this will take years to repair don't you?

Utter madness.

Bruce was a great town player. He is a real loose, but the pro RK mob think he was not worth keping an dthat RK clearly has a master plan? I've said my piece on Mr Keane iin the past so lets leave it at that.

Lightingboy- You are absolutely spot on mate. I just watched his first interview when he joined the club where he released 13 players saying that he would likely bring in players that he's either; played against, managed or managed his team against. He also said he would always show the fans respect. He didn't on the final game of the season when he couldn't be bothered to come on the pitch and clap the fans. That kind of narrows certain players down to a point. I simply do not believe he is capable of attracting players to the club at the moment, and do not believe we're a attractive option for players to join. Is that because of Keane? Maybe.....
My concern is this. Yes he inherited a team that was full of average players on highly inflated wages for their ability (Alan Quinn springs to mind for an example) and has to reduce the wage budget before he can invest in players. But we were in a far better position for depth and cover last season and look how last season turned out!
He took the captaincy away from McAuley and gaves it to Bruce last season for a short spell. Now look at the predicament Bruce is in. He wants to leave and that's fair enough, but it makes me question Keane's man management skills or lack of. Players don't know if their coming or going! Stead for instance: Top goal scorer until he got sent off at Palace then loaned out. What did he do wrong?
I was at the Leiston game last night which, ok it was a friendly, but it was a lacklusted poor performance. If we've to got to focus on the youngsters coming through, which we may not have much choice with so many players leaving, Not one player impressed me last night and that's the truth.

Thanks Brucie for your efforts...

...no great loss however; I'd happily pick Troy Brown or Tom Eastman ahead of him as cover for Macca

I thought the deal may have been called off due to lack of cover in defence. His departure leaves us short, hope we get someone soon.

Ok sel some players but now Wickham is injuried don't sell players like Walters or perhaps stead not until Wickham is back. We have to get as much money what we can for our players not let them go for peanut like we did for Matt Holland.

Good deal all round.

Also, the people who absolutely slated Roy and balmed him for the deal colapsing with Sheffield United obviously must realise they were wrong. The club were completely right not allowing a player to go for less than the money they wanted.

I'm in Leeds as I type and I went past Elland Rd earlier today - I couldn't see him...

Only problem is that we seem to be selling / offloading to rival teams - hope they don't return to haunt us...

Good business this - never liked Bruce - money and off the wage bill. Marvellous.
