Town Confirm Ablett Illness
Town Confirm Ablett Illness
Monday, 2nd Aug 2010 17:06

Town have confirmed that new coach Gary Ablett is in hospital receiving treatment for an illness, believed to be Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Ablett, who recently agreed a one-year deal with the Blues, was taken ill at the club's Playford Road training ground last week.

A Town statement reads: “Everyone at the club is devastated by the sudden onset of such a serious illness.

“Our thoughts are with Gary and his family and we would ask for the family to be given the privacy they require at this difficult time.”

Ablett, 44, played for both Merseyside clubs, who have released statements, Liverpool saying: "Everyone at the club would like to extend their best wishes to Gary and hopes that he makes a speedy recovery."

A spokesman for Everton added: "Gary has always been a popular figure at Goodison. Our thoughts are with Gary and his family at this time.”

TWTD adds its good wishes and will pass on any messages posted below or on last night's story to the club.

All the best my friend. My grandma died of this form of cancer but recieved no treatment because of her age (86). I'm sure that Gary will get over this with the right treatment, after all he is younger than her. My thoughts are with his family.
