Brentford have confirmed the signing of released Town defender Pim Balkestein on a three-year deal. At the end of last week, the Dutchman’s girlfriend revealed that the move was on the cards on her Facebook page.

Bees boss Andy Scott is pleased to have added the former loanee to his squad on a permanent basis: "Once again I'm delighted with this signing. Pim will bring the same quality to the side that he did during his loan spell last season.

“In the 15 games he played for us he played a major role in our finishing position and, having secured his signature on a long term deal, I believe he will be a significant component as we strive to achieve the ambitions of the football club."

Good luck Pim - seemed like a really nice bloke - just not what we needed to press on. I'm sure he'll do well at Brentford.

Aspiring League 1 club like Brentford is the perfect place for him. I honestly believe letting him go was the correct decision and I would'nt be surprised if we see him and Brentford in the Championship in the next couple of seasons.

A good signing for Brentford, as he did well for them last year and is young enough to improve further. Maybe we will see him back in the Championship one day, but not good enough just yet. Good luck Pim.

What a shame to see him leave, i thought he played well when i saw him play against Sheffield United on the last day of the season. He is a beefy, tall and strong defender which every club needs.
