Palace Could Move for Pablo
Palace Could Move for Pablo

Former Blues boss George Burley, now with Crystal Palace, is believed to be considering a move for Town striker Pablo Couñago, a player he first brought to Portman Road in 2001. Meanwhile, Burley’s most recent signing from the Blues, midfielder Owen Garvan, will reportedly be unavailable for Palace’s opening game of the season against Leicester on Saturday.

Burley brought Couñago to England in 2001 on a free transfer from Spanish side Celta Vigo having first noticed him scoring twice for Spain’s U21s in a 4-0 victory over England’s youngsters at Birmingham earlier in the year.

Couñago was amongst the eight players made available by the Blues earlier in the summer and Town would probably allow the Spaniard to move on a free to remove him from the wage bill. The 30-year-old has another year left on his Town contract.

Burley is set to be without Owen Garvan at home to Leicester on Saturday with the Football League yet to hand them back their ‘share’ which will entitle them to formally make player purchases as they are not yet officially out of administration.

The Eagles will be able to field loan and free signings such as David Wright but will be unable to play Garvan, who joined from Town for £225,000 earlier in the week, until they receive the ‘share’ next week.

Elsewhere, Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O’Driscoll has revealed he was at Town’s game with Spurs on Tuesday. O’Driscoll has previously targeted out-of-favour Blues striker Jon Stead.

i'm relatively fond of Pablo, and he has played a couple of games where he has looked premiership quality
BUT.....
to call him a "Town Legend" really doesn't do service to the history of fantastic players we have had over the last 50 years
He'd probably get in the all time 20th XI of Ipswich
IMHO
