McCormack Town Talks Confirmed
McCormack Town Talks Confirmed
Thursday, 12th Aug 2010 11:36

Ross McCormack’s agent has confirmed that he has spoken to Town regarding the Cardiff striker. McCormack is understood to be part of a proposed swap deal which would see Blues striker Jon Stead move in the other direction on either a loan or permanent basis.

McCormack’s representative Willie McKay said: "I have spoken to Ipswich chief executive Simon Clegg about Ross and we are now waiting for Ipswich to make a formal offer to Cardiff.

"Once that happens and an offer is accepted we will discuss personal terms with Ipswich. However, there are a four or five others clubs also chasing Ross and we will see offers come in for him."

McCormack, 23, is believed to have become frustrated by his lack of first team opportunities with Cardiff. SPL giants Celtic are reportedly amongst the other interested parties.

I was hoping that this transfer would be at a more advanced stage tbh. McCormack and Scotland really would be the last pieces of the jig saw imo. Last season McAuley and Delaney created a really solid partnership at the back and now we have a top keeper behind them. The midfield is incredibly solid and created alot of chances. We just lacked pace going forward and somebody to finish all those chances.

I hope McCormack signs permanently but I hope Stead goes out on loan to give Cardiff cover untill a replacement as I like Stead and he is a super sub.

He won't be off to Celtic, they just get linked with anyone & everyone. Started his career with Rangers I believe ...

Played for Rangers but was secretly a Celtic fan.. a troubling link indeed.

Get him, and give them Stead on a 3 month loan. What a strikeforce that would give us.

The 2 managers keep quiet about the transfer of this player until it is done & dusted out of respect for the clubs & players involved so the agent decides to go public instead to drum up more interest and more money for himself. Agents are 'go betweens' - why they are allowed to go public at all is beyond me. If the clubs involved wish to say nothing then that should be a binding rule for all involved in a deal.

Not to excited by this one, he is leaving cardiff because he isn't good enough to start regularly in their first team.

Not sure about this story as it makes out to seem we have just had a chat to see if he would like to come.
McCormack was a sub on Saturday and played and the same last night. He then gave his shirt to a fan. To me that means he wont be playing for Cardiff on Saturday.
If Stead is going the other way they would have spoken to him too and he must be keen to go or we would be offering stright cash.
Surely you dont offer cash plus player and then talk Stead and ask "fancy going to Cardiff" he has family to think about.
Keane said he hoped to have two or three in by Wednesday (Scotland/McCormack plus another) So we cant be just making a move for these players as it will be the end of August before contracts are sorted out, going on how long it seems to take to sign someone.
Am I missing something (nice comments only ha ha)

That'll be the agents way of saying "We've only got Ipswich interested but this should attract more attention our way and get some more offers on the table".

He is not leaving us because he is not good enough to get in the first team, its just he cant get in because he cant play alongside chopra as they are similar in size and style and chops is the obviously preferred partner to our big man jay boothroyd..He is a nippy winger but as you know we have whittingham championship top scorer on the wing. Thats why he few games last season.
JOhn stead looks like a good player u dont want to let go,so is macormack and faster around the box. We need a big player like stead as cover for boothroyd and you need a nippy fast box player who knows where the net is as he did last night after coming on as sub late in the 2nd half.
both our teams are struggling to get the player we want in and on the wages we want, We both have players that each of us can utilize effectively. NEither of us want to let our players go on the cheap and get the max money we can. SO IF THIS COMES OF AS A DOUBLE LOAN DEAL then we both benefit.
CELTIC Seem to be chaseing any decent player that becomes availible and he nearly went there last year as his agent was stirring things up coz of his lack of play time for cardiff, but macormack was told in no uncertain terms he was on a long contract and we needed him..
so be wary of this agents words as he is a greed monger and will advise macormack to the extent of lining his own pocket...he is the kind of agent that unsettles players and club managers with his greed.
my own feeling is that a loan deal will be done, and not a player exchange coz Cardiff will want money as well as stead, cos macormack is young and upcoming and stead although a good player, will not be resalable in a year or two, unlike macormack....thats reality n business ...
hope this concludes well for both of us and good luck for the season.

celtic after a number of players according to sky so do think this is agent talk. also this makes it sound like its only been early days talks, yet Cardiff forums seem to think its a done deal - maybe just the agent trying to stir up??? I think the shirt says it all, if he is expecting to feature saturday then why do it last night, will look a bit silly turning up saturday?? views?

just buy the lad if we want him, we need to keep stead, the whole deal could be scuppered by his relctance to take a pay cut or play reserve behind chopra

He was definitely in Ipswich earlier in the week but the snag may have been Stead not wanting to go sheep sh@gging. Added to that even though he played for Rangers, he's a Celtic fan and rumour has it that they made an enquiry and it that's the case we shouldn't hold our breath!

thats if Celtic have, they are linked to lots of players currently so maybe its the agent trying to stir things up? if he was here earlier in week then it is definately past the stage that the agent is trying to suggest? We are still apparantly 'leading the way' so lets see...... At least we will know re: Scotland by lunch time tomorrow if he has been given 24 hours max to think about it - sounds like it wont drag on and on and on.......

All this talk of this player and that player on the verge of signing and then other clubs are in the market is getting ridiculous . If players are interested in signing for us please let us know to have something positive news for a change instead of rumour and speculation !!!!

on the cardiff boards they are saying dave jones has spoke to stead so this deal maybe on the cards, have a feeling this could end up a loan swop like that has been talked about, we are surely getting the better end of this deal. fingers crossed this happens
