West Brom Linked With Walters Swap
West Brom Linked With Walters Swap
Saturday, 14th Aug 2010 09:04

West Brom striker Luke Moore is reported to have been offered to the Blues as part of a swap deal involving Jon Walters. On Thursday, Roy Keane said that Stoke were the frontrunners for the former skipper’s signature, but that another Premier League club was also showing interest.

Moore, 24, came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2001/02 and making 41 senior starts and 57 sub appearances after making his Premier League debut in 2004. While at Villa Moore went out on loan to Wycombe Wanderers and then West Brom.

The former England U21 international made his switch to the Hawthorns permanent in May 2008 for a fee of £3 million.

Moore, whose brother Stefan also came through the ranks at Villa and is now at Halesowen Town, made 25 starts and four sub appearances during the Baggies’ promotion campaign last season, scoring four times.

Town are certainly in the market for additional strikers with Walters set to leave. Negotiations with Wigan's Jason Scotland continue, while the Blues have also targeted Cardiff's Ross McCormack, although Keane said on Thursday that that deal, which could have involved Jon Stead moving to the Bluebirds, was less likely to go through.

If he couldn't score in an attacking free flowing West Brom side he'll never do it somewhere else.

4 goals in 25 starts last season? for a team that finished 2nd in the league? that is awful! no thanks, stead is better than moore. if stead goes it will be a big mistake.

2-1 today, priskin and townshend.

Would rather have ishmale (spelling?) miller, not sure how he is after his injury but scored for fun a few seasons ago at this level. With Walters stripped of his captaincy does that mean he'll be warming the bench today?

Not gonna lie to you but i thought Walters wasnt at his best last season even though he was a joint top goalscorer and put in 100%,
Think more would be a good acquistion theres nothing worse than defending against pace!
3-1 to town again but we will go 1 goal down!
PORTMAN ROAD IS A FORTRESS!

It says part of a swap deal so it is hard to judge as it depends how much cash they would offer us with Moore. His record at Villa was okay, but 5 goals in 57 games at WBA doesn't make him an exciting signing.

I am still worried the £3M figure is fantasy football. When do Ipswich ever get decent fees for players we want to get rid of?

I was just about to criticise the spelling error (Ssotland) and realised it was mine!

just had a chat with my mate , he is a wba season ticket holder he laughed at the thought of getting rid of moore,he says moore offers very little whenever he plays.so hopefully cash only.

I agree with Streety 86 - No thanks to Luke Moore, but would happily take some cash plus Ishmael Miller.

I hope no one boos JW if he is involved today...

For heavens sake not Luke Moore I would rather keep Stead and Priskin than have Moore who WBA obviously want to discard and putting him in the deal for Walters with an over inflated valuation is very crafty. No Moore Moore Moore.

I have to agree. I don't rate Luke Moore. Walters can go though. If he doesn't want to play for us - for whatever reason - then best to part company.
