Town Linked With Rotherham Striker
Town Linked With Rotherham Striker
Tuesday, 24th Aug 2010 11:59

Town are amongst a number of Championship clubs reported to be keeping an eye on Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre. The Blues, Coventry City and Derby County are said to have watched the 23-year-old as he scored four times in the Millers’ goaltastic 6-4 home victory over Cheltenham on Saturday.

Stockport-born Le Fondre played junior football with Crewe but moved on to his hometown club’s youth system where he progressed into the senior side.

After three years in the Hatters’ first team, Le Fondre joined Rochdale initially on loan before making his switch to Spotland permanent in the summer of 2007.

Having made 72 starts and 40 sub appearances and netting 42 goals for Dale, 5ft 11in tall Le Fondre joined Rotherham in August 2009.

The goals have continued to flow with 30 coming in 50 starts and one sub appearance last season, helping him to inclusion in the PFA League Two Team of the Year and Rotherham into the play-offs.

Le Fondre has added five more in his first four games this term, including Saturday’s quadruple.

it would be nice to see we get him, and take the risk that it will work in the championship, just like we did with jon walters.
Pluss with the few strikers we have at the club at the moment any goalscorer would be a welcome addition

Would be a great signing but might have to wait until August 2024 before a deal is agreed.

This guy has been on my radar for the last two seasons, the amount of bets I have won through first goal scorer has been awesome!

Would be very happy if we pull this one off, good age as well and wouldnt cost the earth. Definitely worth a gamble imo.

I wonder how long those talks will take if we try to get him?

debatable, but will certainly net more than priskin.

Definitely should go for this one. We should definitely be gambling by bringing in players from lower leagues. I think it has been proven that the players from lower leagues are capable in the championship just like when Jason Scotland got promoted from league 1 and continued scoring in the championship. Come on lets get this deal done as it should be cheaper then other targets and could become more of a better deal in the long run!

COYB!!

Me too SS Steve but Ive also backed him to be top scorer in L2 this season so would be gutted if he left The Millers.
Mind you if he were to end up in a Town shirt.......now that would be a different matter cos he knows where the net is thats for sure.

This is the kind of player we should be looking at! We sold Rhodes (unforgivable) But taking players with potential from clubs like this is a win win gamble for me... If it didnt work out nobody could be blamed for taking a Kid with potential from the lower leagues imo,,,, His goal record is very impressive but as mentioned he's value may be 5Million by the time we agree terms,,,,, hopefully i'm wrong

Surely we would be a better move for him that Coventry or Derby - For goodness sake Evans/Clegg get in there and sort it.

Went to Rotherham v Lincoln on the opening day of the season on a corporate freebie, he scored that day. He didn't look too quick and the quality of the football in general was poor. But he certainly knows where the goal is.

This would be an amazing signing! His stats are awesome! 30 goals in 50 games! Woah that's good! Would love this guy to come down here and score the goals for us! Does anyone know if Rotherham are still in adminastration?

There is one mighty chasm between our division and Div 2 and whilst I don't mind giving him a punt for say £200K I have my doubts whether he will cut it at our level. As previously stated he is not the quickest and looks overweight to me. Won't be too worried if this doesn't happen but how true is it anyway ?

I don't know about this one to be honest.....
I see that he has a eye for goal but would he be willing to be third choice?
when Wickham comes back I'm hoping that its scotland Wickham all the way, yes he will get a game now and then but not in the number one pairing for me and if i were a 23 year old striker who was banging them in all be it in a lower league then i would want to be playing week in week out, can any of us say that he would be doing that for us?
thats where Derby and Coventry have the edge on us i think, because they don't have the high quality strikers we have ok i know we only have to they can pretty much say to him that he is in there 11 every week.

Thats how i see him thinking anyway.....
For the record though, i would love him to be wearing a town shirt in the next week or so....

Just lazy journalism I think, he scores 4 goals on Sat and suddenly he's being linked to everybody. I hpoe its true though but with our negotiating skills he'll probably end up somewhere else.

I was thinking what happened to Sam vokes from wolves, he was a quality striker I'm that league, but joined wolves when iwelumo and ebanks Blake were irst choice, he faded out and I think he is now with Bristol city!? Sorta says something?still wouldn't him Here though...
