Released Town keeper Richard Wright has signed a four-month deal with Sheffield United. Wright left Portman Road at the end of last season.

The former England keeper, 32, has been training with George Burley's Crystal Palace and Frank Yallop's San Jose Earthquakes and was also linked with Hull City over the weekend.

Hang on a minute this can't be Wright.

All the blubbers were saying he's Premier Class when he was released.

Got a few years left before retirement. Good luck Richard.

Perhaps his wages have been putting clubs off, as I am surprised it has taken this long for Wright to find a club and then only on a short-term deal. Three seasons ago he helped Southampton stay up, and two seasons ago he was our Player of the Season. At the age of 32, I thought he would be pretty much in demand at Championship level.

Fulop and Murphy are better keepers. Wright gave years of decent servies and deserves credit, but sadly injury prone and overpriced wage wise to sit on our bench/on the treatment table.

Still a good keeper at this level. Good luck to him.

Let's hope he drops a clanger at Brammal Lane in Nov, similar to last season.
