Not a good day today in difficult blustery conditions. Southampton were the better side on the day with their neat passing game. They Also had the advantage in the air in the 18 yard box with their tall players . Ipswich could not match them in the air due to having shorter players.Southampton put a barrage of crosses into the Ipswich goal area.It was after 16 minutes when Southampton Matthew Rose was left unmarked to loop a header over the advancing Cody Cropper to make it (1-0) Southampton made it (2-0) just before half time again with a header. Town continued to struggle with Caolan Lavery an isolated figure up front. At half time the blues were more determined in their play but could not break Southhampton's stronghold on the game. Towns Lavery going in hard with keeper Bovey got a touch on the ball to roll it into the net (2-1). Another defensive mistake gave Southamptons substitute the opportunity to shoot past Cropper with his first touch of the ball (3-1). Later young Byron Lawrence scored with a deflected shot 3-2. On the day town could not hold their game together and was always on the back foot.Towns best on the day . Lavery,Lawrence,Cropper.
