Copies of 1980-81 The Greatest Season in Ipswich Town’s History signed by legendary Blues skipper Mick Mills are now on sale from TWTD. The book, written by Mel Henderson, Town's public relations officer at the time, is a superb account of the year in which the club won the UEFA Cup and just missed out on a treble.
1980-81 The Greatest Season in Ipswich Town’s History features interviews with all that season’s players, Sir Bobby Robson and Bobby Ferguson, as well as Mills’s top ten matches and top ten goals from the season.
The man who held the UEFA Cup aloft says all Town fans should own a copy: “1980-81 was an incredible season and I was proud to be part of such a great team. If you love Ipswich Town then you will love this book.”

if you were born in the 80's and 90's you missed out on the fanatastic times we had under bobby robson, thats why some of us struggle to accept our current plight, i will never forget that season, we really were that good, i have bought the book, and its a great tribute, thanks for the memories.
I agree as I was there too, However as for our current plight, it seem some of the fans blame Keane for this. IMO it goes back further to when we spend millions trying to stay in the Prem, the club going in to admin etc we are still re building from then.
Robson was boo and the chant of Robson out in his first few seasons at the club now we are buying a book on what he help achive at the club, I hope with in the next 10 years I will be doing the same again and buying a book of what Keane has help us achive again
micky mills the best captain england ever had...period.. don't even mention mr keane in the same sentence as mr bobby robson there is no comparison and never will be
Mick Mills was the greatest captain Town ever had, the best leader of players we ever had, a model of consistency, a loyal servant to the club ( he turned Man Utd down countless times to stay at Town ) and my first pick in an Ipswich Town team sheet. Super, super player and if only we had someone like him now. A real legend and the heart and soul of the great Ipswich team of 1972/1982.
what our team could do with a Thijssen or Muhren right now - and for those backing Garvan, he is miles off these guys in the form of creativity! I always thought Paul Mariner to be a bit of a lazy player too, but his goal scoring record speaks for itself. Chruchmans on a milk crate those were most definately the days!!
Just received my copy - it's a very nice book, highly recommended. Perfect Xmas pressie to those who will look back and remember. Brought a tear to my eye reading it through (for the good memories that it is!).
oldegold - echo your comments to a word. Micky Mills a great servant to the club - should have been offered a decent position with the club to this day, but never happened for whatever reason. Always good to hear and read his bits on / in the media. Take a bow Micky Mills - if anyone deserves it you certainly do, and thanks for some great memories. Those certainly were the Days.

Ipswich 6 Man Utd 0, what a day that was (season before 80-81). Stood the whole game next to the Utd pen and walked out of the ground covered in mancunian spit and snot, FANTASTIC!!!!
Oh how we could do with a couple of Mick Mills at full backs now.
It was like watching Brazil, I think that was the season Dad took my brother and me to see us play at Villa Park. We were high up in the usual away end. Seemed a lot higher up when I was young. Alan Brazil scored the winner. It makes the current plight harder to bear. It's been a long slow continuous downward slide ever since then.
