Keane: It Had 0-0 Written All Over It
Keane: It Had 0-0 Written All Over It
Saturday, 20th Nov 2010 18:32

Boss Roy Keane felt the game at Hull had 0-0 written all over it until Robert Koren’s second half strike consigned his side to their third successive defeat.

Keane said: “It probably looked like it had 0-0 written all over it and when you go away from home you would accept that, so it’s another difficult one to take.

“I think the effort and all that was fine. I think we could have done with a little bit more composure on the final ball, which is vital to win any game, even in the last 20 minutes when it got a bit hectic.

“We had one or two opportunities in the first half when we were breaking, Jack had one or two half chances, and Jason. That’s where we came up short today.

“I've no problem with the effort or the commitment from the players, that’s fine. But you just need that little bit extra to win football matches, particularly away from home.”

The Blues boss thought Koren’s goal might have struck one of his players its way through and believed his side had a couple of decent penalty claims when Tommy Smith and Connor Wickham appeared to be pulled back: “I think the goal took a deflection and I think there was probably a foul before that.

“I’m certainly not happy with two penalty decisions which we felt ought to have gone our way but we’ve now got to focus on the next game, lick our wounds and look to bounce back.”

Town’s away fans were supportive of the Blues boss despite the loss and the controversy regarding Keane’s criticism of last week’s booing.

The Irishman was unhappy that his side couldn’t give them something to celebrate: “We’re disappointed for them because they’ve travelled up and we know they paid good money and once again we’ve come up short. Disappointed, but we always are when we don't get the right result for the fans.”

Keane confirmed that defender Tom Eastman sustained a groin injury and will be struggling for next week’s game at Norwich, while David Norris was icing his ankle but Keane was hopeful that his skipper will be OK for the trip to Carrow Road.

Tigers boss Nigel Pearson was pleased to get the win: "It was important to get three points. It wasn't an easy game to win with the way in which they set up. We had to work very hard for it and there weren't many chances.

"But it was a good three points and much deserved. It wasn't the most fluent of games, but when we've had three home defeats on the trot there is always going to be a little bit of anxiety around.

"However, I thought we always tried to do the right things and we played some decent football at times, although without being too penetrating.”

I have a more general comment than one about this particular game but I cannot understand why townsend does not play, it sounds exactly like a game where him running at players could have created something I agree that colback is good and possible still settling in but he is not a winger and in my opinion should not be playing before townsend in that position either home or away

Alex Mathie summed you up keane.... "I think Roy keane must pick his starting eleven out of a hat".
One up front and priskin on the bench against a team that has only scored four goals at home all season?

The way the team was set up from the start I think most town fans would admit we did'nt go there looking to get goals to win you games. Scotland was on his own once again and did'nt get any support which has more than once and we are on losing side yet again. I really feel sorry for Priskin last week was by far are best player and he was dropped today? What the hell has he go to do? The formation 4-1-4-1 is no longer working and keane does'nt have many more formations apart from 4-4-2 in the last 10 mins. We are playing poorly and there is'nt no positives at the moment. We picked up almost half of are points tally in August. We are now 14 points of top 3 points of the play offs and 7 off the bottom three where are we heading? We aint going anywhere under Keane. Sometimes changing managers improves your team just look at qpr & Naarwich are they better for moving on with managers? I don't think i need to answer that one. Keane out & Clown clegg!!!!

i'll NEVER accept 0-0 home or away. suggests you have no desire to score goals.

Negative boring footaball is ok by you then Roy? well fine, but not at my club please, good luck for the future wherever you may go at the end of the year.

This is Ipswich, we're not overly ambitious here but we do like football to be played in its purest form with vibrant crisp ATTACKING football.

Mr Evans if you're reading this then please put in a call to a certain Mr M O'Neil I think you would find him a better option.

we're not getting Premiership football after this year because the current manager sets out to 'accept' a scoreless draw.

IT'S ALL KEANE'S FAULT!!!!

I thought the lineup was better today, to shore up the defence and compensate for McAuley. If only Keane had the balls to do something similar against Barnsley. I only listened on the radio so can't comment on the performance too much, but the lack of shots on target says much. At least it sounded like the players were hurting towards the end and starting to get fiesty with the ref and opposition.

The form table makes alarming reading. We may still be only 3 points off the play-offs, but 3 wins from our last 10 games tells the real story.

So thats now 7 loses, in the last 9 games.
How can Roy Keane possibly survive this? At any other Club he'd have been gone by now.

and oh yes Scum WILL beat us easily next weekend - they dont have a better squad - just a more experienced and better manager !

Mr Evans , "grow some" please, and ACT NOW !!

The way we are playing at the moment we will lose 2 or 3 nil at Norwich. I Don't have any faith in Roy at all he is a cocky, arragant and he is not the man for this club all the pro-keanes will see this shortly when he either walks or gets the chop.

Next Sunday well be a walk in the park for Norwich. Keane will play one up front yet again in our local derby wait and see.

I really supported him since his appointment, I am gutted! the idiot believes now that he will be a great manager here or at another club! well f@*k off elsewhere Keane coz your making us a laughing stock man! next week, i will be there and I dread what i will see... Oh what a sorry state this club of ours is in. Sum total of our ambition to get a 0-0 away from home, falling attendances at home, the players being booed and our own fans cheering the opposition. If this is Keane's idea of progress then I dread to think what constitutes a club going backwards. If ME does think it is time for change then will it be this week or will he wait until after the now expected stuffing at carrot road ? Either way surely this cannot be allowed to go on much longer.

I have been saying it for ages Keane is not the man for ipswich . when we lose to NORWICH next week we as season ticket holders should boycott the swansea home game to show EVENS we want KEANE out .P.S I work with norwich fans and they are laughing at us

I am afraid you have to get real on here as Keane will not walk. Would you when there is another 7 or so months pay to take. Marcus Evans will not sack him either so instead of keep moan moan moan every week on here get behind the players even if you can't stand Keane and Clegg. Why is Clegg getting so much stick he does not pick the team nor does he hold to purse strings as he just takes orders from the chief ? My prediction is that Keane will be offered another contract and he will turn it down but before that we must get behind the team and make sure we are still in this Division next season. Just to cheer everyone up after 18 games last season we had 16 points this season we have 24 - now in Keanes own words that is progress !!!!

How much more sad can this become? We need a manager, not an ex-player.
Some-one who will WORK. Who will work within a team. Who is essentially encouraging and positive. Who has the ability to put together a team. I strongly believe we have most of the talent we need. Did you watch England against Samoa today ? The way that team selection was refined to a situation where at least 4 players will never be first choice?
We still seem to be playing My Mates plus the Yes-sayers rather than developing a team.

We need to go s**t or bust next Sunday and start with Priskin and Wickham!!
But knowing this fool he will start with one up front!
Didnt think things could get lower when we had Magilton in charge, how wrong i was!
This shambles is just not Ipswich! We are known for playing passing attacking football and having a loyal and friendly fan base. We are loosing fans every home game now and surely Evans can see that he made a big big mistake with Keane.
Surely us fans haven't got to go through yet another average to poor season with nothing to cheer about?
We deserve better Mr Evans!!!!!
