Town Topic: Who Should Replace Keane?
Town Topic: Who Should Replace Keane?

With Roy Keane sacked 20 months into his Portman Road tenure, who would you like to replace him?

Paul Jewell is the early front-runner, Chris Hughton, Gary Megson and Alan Curbishley have all been linked, but who do you want?

Houghton would be my number one, under stated modest and got newcastle playing some good attacking football. Or the brighton pair! Would be better than someone big and arrogant like alardyce! !!

I'm not advocating him, but one name that hasn't appeared here (!) who might be in the picture is Paulo Sousa. We could do worse.

There are a number of extremely strange suggestions on this forum!... Chris Houghton for me, please.

Sean O'Driscoll would be my choice...... I need to see some entertaining football after what we've witnessed the past few years

The boys will continue to get my full support whoever is appointed but please not Megson

Hoddle
Curbs
Hughton
Wilkins
Poyet & Tarrico
Burley
(any of the above will do nicely, thank you very much.)

Definitely NOT Megson ... please ... or Dowie / Allardyce for that matter! Really want to see some good, attractive football at PR again ...

Not sure about Jewell ...

A tough one. Most of the people you would want probably wouldn't come here, and many of the ones that would have some serious baggage!

Interesting to hear so many people talking up Jewell. His name was barely mentioned on here until a few days ago! I remember reading something about him bullying the players at Derby, which is something that RK was accused of.

Currently in danger of relegation and need someone with the appropriate experience to drag us away from that and up the table.

I'm going to throw my lot in with the Tisdale camp. He's done great work at Exeter over several seasons, knows how to work on a budget and will have an eye for promising players from the lower leagues, not expensive Premier League drop outs...

I've heard, we have made an approach for Lambert. Phil, can you please try and get confirmation on that?

SMS that would be hilarious.

And i wouldnt mind him here anyway. he has worked wonders with a cheap squad who on paper dont look as good as ours.some good purchases too.
Wouldnt mind keegan either. missed him off my earlier post

people have forgotten how well he was doing after being out the game for a long time when he came back to newcastle. Then came denis wise !

Great motivator and would have loads of contacts .

Club will be in safe hands with curbs at the helm but for sure this deal with Jewell has already be signed and sealed.

My option would be Chris Hughton from Newcastle, but with Paul Jewell as favourite, he will do.... like the managers or not, give em a chance

if he is still motivated after a spell out then paul jewell would be a good appointment but he would have to be hungry still for success, for me houghton would be good.

I'd re-employ Burley, sorry George, in a heartbeat but I think he'd be on a hiding to nothing and I'm not sure you should ever go back (as a manager). O'Neill would be my top pick but I think it's unlikely. I wouldn't be unhappy with Jewell, Curbishley or Hughton but if Megson is even touted, then ME and SC just don't know anything about Ipswich.

Outside chance maybe of Poyet and Taricco and some of the perhaps less household names of O'Driscoll and Howe (as Dalty suggests) but who knows?

Whoever it is, he'll get my full support, but please God, not Megson or Allardyce. Please!!!
