Town Topic: Who Should Replace Keane?
Town Topic: Who Should Replace Keane?

With Roy Keane sacked 20 months into his Portman Road tenure, who would you like to replace him?

Paul Jewell is the early front-runner, Chris Hughton, Gary Megson and Alan Curbishley have all been linked, but who do you want?

Please not Curbishley!! All the personality of a brick wall and
our supporters are too impatient to give him the 10 years he'd need to achieve anything! Jewell wouldn't be the worst person in the world. Lets not forget, he'd been out out of the game nearly 3 years when he took over at Wigan and look what he did there.

(On 7 January 2011, the dismissal of Roy Keane as Ipswich Town manager sparked reports that Jewell was about to be appointed manager of the Suffolk club after two years out of the game.[24])

This has been put on Under Paul Jewell On wikipedia. Ive been looking at his record and it aint bad people. 4 promotions and only 1 relegation.

Bradford - Promotion to prem and survived, was given good money at the time to achieve this. Then resigned

Sheffield Wednesday - Mid table, Club in debt. Sacked

Wigan - 2nd season Promoted from old division 2 to div 1, 3rd season pipped to a play off place 1st season in division 1, 4th season and 2nd in divison 1 gained promotion to the premiership and survied in his 5th season. He then resigned.

Derby County - Relegated From the premiership on 11 points, however billy davies was part of that season. He then finished 18th in the championship and then resigned after a 1-0 defeat to ipswich on the final game of that 2008 season.

Not a bad record at all people. I cant see why people are soo pesimistic about him or any 1 one. You wanted keane gone he has so be happy who ever we get. I personally think jewell will do a good job and does have a proven track record at this level apart from when at derby, howver they had no money. He seems to do well with a club who has a bit of money and tends to buy well so that looks promising and given the time and money he will keep us away from relegation + next year give a promotion push. 4 promotions and 1 relegation form the prem is a good record like it or not.

So there you go Jewell Would definatley not be as bad as a few make out him to be infact he cud be quite good. Him, Curbishley or Houghton would all be good appointments. Like some have said ill be right behind the new man who ever it is as its a new club new start for us n the manager whether good at another club or not. So whatever happens COYB!

A good example that its a fresh start for the manager too, is Ian Holloway; at leicester got the relegated and then went to Blackpool got them promoted so whoever it is give em a chance PLEASE!!

if we are only replacing keane then an empty brown paper bag will suffice but really the whole point of getting rid of him is not to replace him

Megson - Looks, charisma and style. Also played in East Anglia and therefore knows the rural life.

Martin O'Neil or Terry Butcher
Butcher has done a great job at ICT, but it sounds like the deal is already done for Jewell. I would be happy with that, if the rumours are true.

I'd love to see Curbs and Holland double act or Coppell (apart from not too sure what happened at Bristol City). But what he did at Reading in the season they went up was incredible. would love to see us playing the ball on the deck again!
