It was interesting to hear what he said and like everyone i hope he's ggod for Town. The key parts to his plans will be who will help him ( i dont think he'll keep all support staff) and how much cash he'll have to spend in the window, if anything! He might be forced down the loan route which might bring in some valuable experience to a very young squad. This board is going to be very busy in the coming weeks!!

General concensus is he is the right man......More importantly ME thinks he is the right man, I feel optimistic about his appointment, and look forward to a very bright future with him at the helm.
Mind you give it 3-4 weeks and the usual "supporters" will start moaning if he hasnt won his next 2-3 games 6-0!!

Its time for all fans to get behind Mr Jewell 100% for 100% of the time, and FFS give the man some time.

I will admit he wasn't my first choice but neither am I unhappy about his appointment. I have an open mind and he has my full support...Welcome to ITFC Paul.....Time to become a legend....we need a third statue down at PR....

Forget Derby and Wednesday. PJ took Bradford to the top flight for the first time ever, and took Wigan from League 1 to the Prem where they are still .... all thanks to his work. Definitely a footballing man, young and enthusiastic yet stil...l experienced. A very warm welcome to him, let's hope he can deliver the recovery we desperately need.

COYB!!

I too was impressed with his press release, very honest and I have a good feeling that he'll turn this club around. He need's time, patience and all of our support. Remember what he has gained and be patient, it's going to take him some time to get rid of some of the awful signing's made by Keanne.

Welcome to Suffolk Paul, I hope your time here is a happy one.

Good luck at Portman Road, we are behind you 100%.

What you can expect: Excellent facilities, nice stadium, supportive crowd who are willing to give you time, vocal away following and some decent existing talent in the squad.

What we expect: We dont expect to win every week but some better football than we have been witnessing and some creativity would be a great start. A goal once in a while would go down well too. Of course beating Norwich in a few months and in the shortterm survival in the Championship this season.

Bonus's: Norris and McAuley signing new contracts.

I like your views on developing the talent we have here rather than Keane's "throw enough mud at the wall some of it has to stick" mentality. In Fulup, MaCauley, Smith, Delaney, O'Connor, Leadbitter, Norris, Hyam, Priskin, Wickham, Scotland you have the foundations of a good side. Just bin off Kennedy, Edwards, Healy and Martin and sign a couple of full backs.

Good luck!

In short, yes I think he is!!
Nice to see a touch of humour at a Town press conference, sure he will get the best out of what could be a good bunch

Very much enjoyed his first press conference. Explaining how he has used his 2 years of was positive sounding and added a bit of humour to proceedings, something which Roy Keane certainly could not do!

His records at clubs where he has lasted are just what Town needs right now. His experiences at Sheff Wed and Derby obviously were not so good, but hey if you want to look at things another way how about looking at Jewells history when managing sides in chronolgical order:

Bradford = Promotion, stayed in PL
Sheff Weds = Not so good!
Wigan = Promotion, following season highest ever finish in clubs history
Derby = Yeah, not so good.

Therefore he must do well at Town in that order haha!

COYB, and welcome to the club Paul!!!

Agree with much of the above. Great to see that the new manager HAS A SENSE OF HUMOUR. I never, ever, saw the last bloke smile. I want to see Town players on the park passing the ball, scoring goals, and looking as though they enjoy playing football!

Is he the right man to take Town forward?
How on earth do we know!
I guess we all asked the same question when Keane took over.
Look where we went with him....the more I look at footaball it just proves to be an absolute lottery.

I think he could do well for us. His teams play good entertaining football, he has good man management skills, and although he hasn't had a managerial position for two years, he's not been completely removed from the game.

Time will tell - but he does have plenty of experience and, as others have said, he does have the track record of winning promotion.

First job is to secure our Championship status - and I think the has more chance of doing that than RK had.

Welcome to Paul Jewell, let's give him time and patience. I just think we all need some encouragement and a fresh start. Tony Mowbray gave a goal away in his first game at PR (got dispossessed out on the wing by Don Goodman who then outpaced him and scored) and I remember the crowd was just quiet, respecting him, and knowing he would come good.

Great to have you on board Paul! Onwards and upwards, COYB

I honestly feel he could become our manager for the decade, this is all so exciting. I'm not expecting a gargantuan surge up the table, nor do I expect us to seriously challenge for promotion next season - that would be terrific of course but these things take time. This is a new era for ITFC though; a new beginning (even if with the same squad etc) and a chance to make right the mistakes of the past few seasons.

Good luck Mr Jewell, may good fortune be on your side. BLUE ARMY!!!

If he can bring a bit of the old Liverpool pass-and-move to Portman Rd. then I for one will be very happy. If he also knows anyone who can play right-back, then I'll be even happier. Let's get our season going again and get behind the team and the manager. COYB.
