O'Dea Unsure of Future
O'Dea Unsure of Future
Monday, 10th Jan 2011 16:08

On-loan defender Darren O’Dea says his future is now up in the air following the change of manager at Portman Road. The Celtic defender says he was all-set to remain on loan with the Blues until the end of the season until Roy Keane's departure.

O’Dea said: “It was all agreed that my loan would be extended and I would be with Ipswich until the end of the season.

“But this was under the management of Roy Keane, and I don’t know now what will happen under a new manager.

“I want to stay, but I will have to wait for it to be sorted and I’m just concentrating on playing Arsenal in the Carling Cup at Portman Road on Wednesday and then the Championship game at Millwall on Saturday.”

I think Jewell will give you a chance. But like most players all futures are on the line the players Keane has brought in are not good enough. But with the right coaching and encouragement we may see the best come out of the players in the next months or years who knows. Just concentrate on keeping us up o'Dea thats the most important thing.

Very average player. Not good enough for the ambitions that the club have.

Would tend to agree with the prevailing opinions above; not good enough for the Championship, although he may yet reach the standard required for the SPL...

If you perform well you will stay, simples!

A comment like his sums up the attitude of some of these players. Defeatist! Almost as he expects to be sent back because he is not good enough.

PJ comes in with open mind and clean sheet. It would have been much beter toi issue a comment along the lines of 'I love it here and I am determined to work hard and get my loan agreement extended'.

PJ has his work cut-out in getting these players to start believing in themselves.

Glad to hear that PJ say everyone has a clean slate, O'Dea can stay if he earns his place, I think things will begin to improve from the Millwall game.....sadly think we'll get a dicking wednesday night...and of course it has to be live on Sky!!!
Am so Glad Keane has finally gone though!

Absolute joker, did you see his woeful defending for Norwich's 1st goal, send him packing please! I think he is rubbish, simple as! Whenever I see his name on the teamsheet I could scream as I know it means we're likely to lose! Plus he likes like a rather nice Bhoy lol! See here to see him kissing his mate! http://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/3138518/Seems-like-a-nice-Bhoy.htm

Why dont we all just send an email to PJ and save him the trouble of looking at No Idea and Healy - discard

He's better than Kennedy but that's like saying Jim Davidson is funnier than Lenny Henry.

Send him back ASAP and let Kennedy go too.

I like O'Connor but further forward. We need fullbacks

Keane has gone, so should all the damage he has brought to the club. Including the useless loanees!!!!

I remember Roy Keane making a comment about O'Dea's wages being high. He is a left-sided centre back and we already have Delaney and Smith in that position, so we don't need him there. At left back, there must be better and cheaper options, plus we already have Kennedy and O'Connor in that position.

God bless him.................................. all the way back to Celtic.

When we needed numbers, he was okay - but being from Celtic and being a young man apparently hungry to impress, he hasn't impressed me at all. Not good enough to wear the shirt I'm afraid. And we need to make room for those who are good enough.

Would send him back. Suspect Jewell will send all of the loanees back. Only one who has really impressed is Fallon - yet I am not sure whether he will score enough goals.

Players in squad who are good enough in my opinion are:

Scotland - leading scorer. Okay on his day.
Wickham - potential
Norris - captain and trier
McAuley - one of best defenders in Championship
Kennedy - as an experienced Championship player
Smith - potential
Fulop - maybe?

Other than that I can't think of anyone else I would keep. Leadbitter possibly. The rest can go. In fact - wouldn't be too disappointed if they all left!
