Drury Confirms Luton Exit Imminent
Drury Confirms Luton Exit Imminent
Wednesday, 26th Jan 2011 10:06

Luton midfielder Andy Drury has confirmed that he expects to leave Luton for the Championship this week but says he’s not yet sure which club he will be joining. Town are believed to be the frontrunners for the 27-year-old’s signature but Coventry and Sheffield United have also been linked.

Speaking after the Hatters’ 1-0 Blue Square Bet Premier victory over Grimsby at Kenilworth Road last night, Drury said he thought it was probably his last game for the Bedfordshire club: “I think so, but you never know in football.”

Asked directly whether Town was his destination the former Sittingbourne, Lewes and Stevenage man said: “I’m not too sure which club, but we’ll see what the rest of the week brings. I’ve loved my time here at Luton, it’s been a great six months for me.

“I’m looking forward to it, a bit gutted I’m not finishing the job with Luton but it’s something I can’t turn down, so I’m looking forward to it now.”

Drury is understood to have a clause in his contract which means that he can move on if the Hatters receive an offer of £150,000.

I spoke to a friend who watches Luton weekly, he said he runs the team and will be a big miss for Luton. Sounds good, lets hope he can handle the step up

He's 27, according to Luton and Stevenage. Soccerbase has more than a few errors, particularly with lower league/non-league players.

27 and still playing for Luton?? Is this the answer to our prayers? another gem everybody else has missed over the years?

thats the general idea Bluechick, not too young so comes with experience, but young enough to have a few good years ahead! fingers crossed this proves to be a Simon MIlton type gem......

He's not said who he is joining yet, Coventry let Michael Doyle go to Sheff U yesterday so they will be after another midfielder!!!

Luton say his date of birth is 28/11/1983, so Phil and the beeb appear to be right:

Blue chick - it happens. Some gems (Jewells!) are never unearthed. No one ever spotted me and I spent my whole career playing village football in the Ipswich and district leagues 5-7! What a waste!

With Drury & Bullard expected to sign I think it is obvious that Norris will be leaving :(
An intelligent midfielder who likes to control midfield, sounds decent for 150k. Would help control tempo of games, something we have badly missed in the middle of the park.
Another Charlie Adam maybe?

The guy left Stevenage because he couldn't handle the training - fact.
Somehow I cant see him making the step up for this reason.

Would love to be wrong but meh

why does everyone think this means Norris is going? why not Leadbitter? Also we have lost three midfield loan players recently isnt there a chance we are replacing them? Also stevenage apparantly trained hard every day which is not necessarily the best way, your body needs recovery time. doesnt mean he isnt fit, just didnt enjoy their particular training regime and found he was getting injured.

bluelady- spot on with your last post

Norris is going because he's out of contract in 6months and ME and SC ain't offering the guy anywhere near what he wants for wages. If they sorted all this in the summer players wouldn't be able to talk to other clubs n so wouldn't know how much they could get. As much as ME got this club out of a huge bind, appointing SC was a total disaster.

casanovacrow guess we are just all as doom and gloom on here as you...... ok he may go but he hasnt gone yet so why worry over spilt milk thats still currently in the bottle in the fridge......! life is far too short to be miserable all the time!

Isn't about being miserable, its about concern that the people running our club haven't got a clue about what they are doing. ME needs to get rid of SC and get in someone who has a clue how to run a football club. It's blatantly obvious he's out of his depth.

Eileen Drury?
Wasn't she Glenn Hoddle's faith healer?

Carrying on the Norris conversation, I was as the Emirates last night and I must admit when Norris came over to applaud after the game, it did have a 'goodbye' feel to it-hope im wrong though!

As for Drury and hopefully Bullard coming in, they both sound like they like the ball and can pass a ball which is exactly what we need-sounds like we are going to try and become a passing team again which can only be a good thing.

Come on Clegg, time to pull your finger out and finalise some deals!!!

I would be surpised if Norris does go tbh, we had so many loan midfielders surely there is a void to fill with permanant staff. If we get Bullard aswell, then thatmight be a differnt story...

but you aint going to change that casanovacrow, and to be fair we dont know what goes on at the club or who actually calls the shots it may well be Evans saying he wont pay this or pay that and Clegg is mearly the puppet. We do need a director of football that is clear but being negative wont change things, we have to put up and put a brave face on things or risk being seen as miserable old gits.

People can think I'm miserable if they like, people opinions matter none to me. I got an opinion n I'm always right ;-) jks
