Connor Wickham's goal against Sheffield United on Saturday is being hailed as one of the best ever scored at Portman Road, but which other goals are worthy of joining it on the list?

Kevin Beattie's against West Brom - stormed the length of the pitch then nearly broke the net. Think it was 5-2 but it might've been 7 something. TreallyWTD
for me its definately marcus stewarts double in the play off 1st leg v bolton! those were defo the days! also marcus stewart v liverpool at anfield when we won 1-0!
i think it was kevin beatties goal v W.B.A. when we won 7/0 he ran half the length of the pitch and absolutely leathered it past the goalie, who i beleive got out of the way when he saw it coming
I saw Paul Mason score an absolute rocket in the then league 1 back in the mid-nineties, can't remember who it was against - might have been away at Southend but he caught it on the volley and the ball was traveling at the speed of light - unstoppable!
Marcus Stewarts 2 away at Bolton in Semi-final of play-off's. His debut goal away at Barnsley and his hatrick at Southampton. Gavin Johnson v Liverpool in cup (early 90's) Finidi v Sunderland, and Bramble v Sunderland Mariners first goal Loads of Mariner, Brazil, Gates goals from late 70's early 80's....there's so many!
leighton baines for wigan at portman road was a screamer! best goal ive ever seen at portman road, over 40yards out, top right hand corner, kelvin davis got nowhere near it lol
1st October 1975 - Home to Feyenoord in the UEFA Cup, Clive Woods bends the ball past the keeper and into the net from thirty yards out, I was in the old East Stand and in line with Woods and the goal so could appreciate how much bend he put on it. I was similarly fortunate with being in the Britannia for the Finidi lob against Sunderland but Woodsie's was the better goal.
Great Goals for me are about emotion as much as tech'ers so Reuser's goal in the play off final......& Roger Osborne in the 1978 FA Cup final, was at Wembley to see both and will never forget either moment.....Beautiful!!
Aaaah, thank you all so much for all the memories. I also remember the Kevin Beattie goal when he ran the length of the pitch, players bouncing off him like he was solid rock and then nearly breaking the net with his shot. It was like a goal from one of the football comics i read as a kid which was meant to be pure fantasy ! I also have this distant memory of Beattie scoring with a bullet direct from a free kick just inside the oppositions half having just come back on the field after an injury and looking crocked .... Any one else with details would be appreciated.
John O'Rourke ..... Wow, there's a name form the past !!!
Almost any Alan Brazil goal will do for me as thet were usually great team efforts by a great team and Alan aws quite often there to start the move or involved in the build up few passes before. This was a special occasion to be in.A sunny afternoon and everything. And also when get teased by younger ManU-supporters up here in Finland byt that certain 9-0 I ask in reply "Who was the last team to beat ManU 6-0?
What about Mark Venus' free-kick pile driver from about 35 yards against Southampton.
I will always love Gavin Johnson's goal against Liverpool, at Anfield, in the early 90's. A beautiful move involved a Johnny Wark cross met by a diving header. We went nuts and I was hugging a Town fan dressed as a bear.
Magilton's goals against Bolton will always be special too.
@bostonusablue I can't resist adding to your comments on Gavin Johnson's header at Anfield - also it was the emotional high of being among 5,000 town fans and getting an equaliser after the ref played 5 mins of injury time in the first half - I think Jan Molby's freekick was timed at 49 minutes of the first half. That powerful accurate cross you can remember was by Steve Whitton, I think, right footed of course as you said from the right wing - but I agree that it was a great goal, superbly put away by Gavin Johnson. We were just behind the goal and saw the way the cross bent away from Bruce Grobellaar giving him no chance to come and claim it, it also had so much pace on it. Great game, great memories.
Beezer and Garv, I saw Ted Phillips break the net more than a couple of times. When he took a penalty the crowd behind the relevant goal would duck!! One of the most fascinating goals scored at PR was Stanley Matthews [in his swan song season with Stoke] scoring direct from a corner. I was standing in the 'corner' bit between the north and west stand [under the manual half time scoreboard - now Those Were The Days] and to see the swerve on that ball was totally unforgettable. Best goal? Any one that gives us a win :-))
