Scotland Again Linked With Swans Return
Scotland Again Linked With Swans Return
Tuesday, 8th Feb 2011 09:22

Town striker Jason Scotland is again being linked with a return to his former club Swansea. A report in Wales claims the Trinidad and Tobago international met with new Blues manager Paul Jewell yesterday to discuss the possibility of a loan move away from Portman Road.

Scotland, who was first mentioned in connection with a switch back to the Swans in late January, is yet to make a start under Jewell’s management and, according to the Welsh report, a source close to the player says he has held talks with the new Town boss about his situation: "He spoke to Paul yesterday and he told him he needs to go out on loan if he's not going to play him, and there's only one club he wants to go to – Swansea. There are other clubs chasing him, but he's not interested in them.

"It does depend on whether Ipswich can get another forward in, but Jason Scotland back at Swansea would work out for everyone concerned."

Aside from the Swans, three other Championship clubs are believed to be interested in the 32-year-old, who spent two highly successful years at the Liberty Stadium.

Prior to the transfer window closing, Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers said he could be interested in bringing Scotland back to Wales but at the time had not made an approach to the Blues, although this may well have changed.

Football League clubs are allowed to take players on 'emergency loans' from today.

Was 'tidy' in his day but his day has gone sadly, let him go and bring in a younger striker on loan.
Talking of strikers who have had their day, was at Exeter v Brentford last night and chatted with a certain Marcus Stewart, great bloke, now if we had him back in his heyday...........................still loves Ipswich and said it was by far the happiest time of his career.

JS's legs have gone - and this was the situation when we bought him, more than the "he's just a bit unfit" tag , I fear.

Id say cheerio and thanks Jason, and lets get in another striker. What price PJ already having one lined up ??

I like scotland, he has a hint of the premier league about him, but since Jewells taken over we have only played one up-front, and that has been priskin as he scored against arsenal and then straight after against Millwall. Scotland hasn't been given a chance but is good back-up. Would definitely need a replacement in of he were to go out on loan.

scotland is a decent player at this level WHEN played alongside someone, no good as a loan striker, if we can find the right replacement then he could move on again, but certainly not before we have 4 players for those 2 striker places

The only place for FRISBEE to flourish is anywhere but a football pitch in IPSWICH ! He was rubbish at Charlton so they loaned him to Gillingham where he was rubbish , need I say more !

Keep him away from the biscuit tin for a few weeks and then give him a run out

He scores. He is good with his back to the goal and in the box. We can't be a one style only team so we need him or someone like him.
Don't care if he is fat... he is often effective.

But still better than Priskin, who is a total lightweight

I can't help thinking that, given the set play expertise arriving, we have a definite knock-it-down and knock-it-in option. How many scoring runs are based on scoring PARTNERSHIPS.
We are coming to a point where we ask WHO enjoys playing with WHOM. Where partnerships become EXCITING. If Jason is creating excitement with his fellow players, then, no doubt he has a future

What do they say? Form is temporary class is permanent?

I would like to see him play under PJ before losing him. He looks like one of those players that thrives off the chaos in the box. The guy that always knocks it in after a goal mouth scramble maybe?

He certainly is difficult to nudge off the ball with all that inertia ;op

Under no circumstances must he leave until we have signed a replacement. If Priskin were to get injured then we would be woefully light of strikers. Personally, I still think we need another striker - even with Scotland in the squad. We need options up front.

Do we really need cover for him? We're playing one upfront and if Priskin gets injured or dropped I (and i think PJ too) would much rather have Connor than tubbo up there chasing lost causes and running the channels. I just don't think he's got the engine to do that role. I know CW's been doing a great job in his new position but with so many wide-mid options now in the squad it would be a no-brainer to move him back.

If PJ was going to put two up top then Scotland is a poacher so would suit that system well but PJ sems to be very much a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of manager as he's shown with his team selections, lack of subs, tactics etc.

The attempt to get in Austin possibly was an indication to him that he is very dispensable. If he thinks his time is up then let him go get a run-out somewhere else, we all know he could certainly do with it!

We need enthusiasm, joy and belief.
If no one is inspired to work with Jason, then it's very sad
But there is NO future
Nat Lofthouse (!!)is NOT available unfortunately!

While I agree Scotland's fitness could be a lot better, the fact is that he has a better goals-to-game return than any of our other forwards. If he isn't happy with a bench role, he should go, but Jewell should convince him to wait until the summer for a move when we can bring in a replacement. I think he can still be of value this season and, if given the chances, will chip in with a few more goals.

Ive always said this that Scotland is a poacher he needs good servcie and allowed to roam switching his attacking runs from the left or right put him in the right frame and this guy will bag loads....(watch the videos of him at the Swans...see what I mean?)
Dont let him go PJ Give him an outing now we have Bullard making an impact to the midfield and the workrate of the midfield has gone up considerably he will most def show his old Form RK didnt know how to play him that all!!!

I think Mr Scotland can still have plenty to offer us. Too many times under the previous regime, he played alone, then was bombarded with high punts upfield, clearly not his strong point. Now we are playing with more width & have the creative talents of Jimmy Bullard, his more natural game will come to the fore. Keep him, it gives our team more options.
