Doncaster Hammering Wins Award
Doncaster Hammering Wins Award
Thursday, 17th Feb 2011 10:11

Town’s 6-0 romp at Doncaster on Tuesday has won the League Managers’ Association’s F and C Performance of the Week Award. A five-man panel made up of former Blues boss Joe Royle, Sir Alex Ferguson, Dave Bassett, Howard Wilkinson and Barry Fry picked the victory out as week’s outstanding performance.

Manager Paul Jewell will be presented a specially engraved crystal football in front of Sky’s cameras on Saturday.

Town previously won the award when Jim Magilton’s side beat Bristol City 6-0 at Portman Road in November 2007, the last time the Blues scored six goals.

As long as Jewell doesnt get manager of the month!! That will ruin everything! Billy Davies got it for January (yes, its true, I did present it to him...) and whilst I'm not entirely sure how the whole of February has gone for them, it is clear that they have drawn and lost in their last two games - including losing to Scunny!

Paul Lambert for manager of the month! We'll just make do with continuing the winning streak.

I've never even heard of this award, but certainly well-earned.

Stupid question - what does the "F&C" stand for?

Fatboy added 11:41 - Feb 17
F&C Investments, sponsors of the awards. Answered my own question there.

Handy having Joe Royle on the panel :)

Would Fry had an East Anglian sympathy also?

You're right bournemouthblue, handy having BFJ there! Last time we had a chubby, balding scouser at Portman Road we got to two play-offs! It's a sign! It's a sign!

Do not fear the Manager of the Month Award!

As I showed, back in September when Roy Keane was threatened with receiving it, the so-called 'curse' is, in fact, a complete myth: http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=17053

For that matter, it worked the opposite way - following Keane NOT getting the award, everything went pear-shaped for us ...

Beat me to it, Guthrum!

Maybe people are getting confused with the Mercury Music Prize, which has only benefitted Elbow.

Talvin Singh, anyone?!
