Wickham Named Championship Player of the Month
Friday, 4th Mar 2011 09:46

Town striker Connor Wickham has been named the npower Championship Player of the Month for February.

Wickham, who scored four goals during the month including his first senior hat-trick in the 6-0 defeat of Doncaster, beat Matty Fryatt of Hull, Leicester’s Andy King and QPR's Heidar Helguson to pick up the gong.

Boss Paul Jewell told the club site: “We're obviously delighted for Connor. It's been a good month for him, with the hat-trick at Doncaster and some very good performances around that.

"A lot has obviously been spoken about Connor and he's got loads of potential. He is making good progress and we don't have to try and keep his feet on the ground either because he's a very level-headed lad."

Well done Conor.
Dont forget he is playing on the wing.
His goals, work ethic, commitment & team play are outstanding. He has improved his positioning too. Plus his goals are from both left and right feet.
He gives real energy & enthuesiam to the team and helps drive them on.
Well deserved!

I hear Trapatoni may give him a call up for the Ireland senior team.

Well Done CW you are back on track now. Credit also to PJ for continuing to bring out the best in him & other players. Lets have a good finish to the season and a cracking one next year, we need you to grow with the team and stay at PR with us. You have years ahead of you and you won't be held back by staying here for a few more seasons at least.

Brian_a_mul let's face it, Trapatoni rings up every player in the division and asks them if they will play for Ireland.
Despite the competition for places, I reckon Connor is better off waiting and seeing if he will get the call to play for England. Got to be worth more money.
The Irish FA is soon going to be offering a free house with every season ticket renewal. The way the Irish economy is going a house in Ireland is soon going to be the smallest unit of currency. I hear there are four times more houses in some counties than people!!!

my goodness, the size of him!
PJ is wearing a funny white hat...

Warkys_Tash: You never know, stranger things have happened :) like Kevin O Brien scoring the fastest every centuary in Cricket World Cup history as Ireland beat England.... hehehe

Tractorog: The state of the ecomomy here is disasterious.
The housing situation is terrible. Many home owners may have no choice but to forfit their homes to the state to relieve the mortage repayments.
Your idea of offering houses to players is not the worst idea Iv heard regards the housing! Its a good way to move the houses on. Alot of houses are in negative equatity (current value, far less than purchase price) and the cost of mortages is going up! They cant even give them away!!
There is one or two smaller rural counties that have large and mostly empty housing estates.
The new government have an impossible job ahead of them.

Back on topic: Well done again Conor on the award. What ever country you play for Im sure you will do them proud.
