Priskin's Swansea Move Confirmed
Priskin's Swansea Move Confirmed
Thursday, 24th Mar 2011 18:13

Swansea have confirmed that Town striker Tamás Priskin has joined them on loan until the end of the season. The Hungarian’s former Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has been targeting the 24-year-old since he took over at the Liberty Stadium in the summer.

Rodgers said: "I looked to bring him in at the start of the season, but it's only now that he's become available.

"I worked with Tamás at Watford where he was outstanding for me and at 6ft 2in he can offer us another threat and balance for the remaining games.

"He is a player who can add goals to our squad and ensure we have enough cover for the final eight games of the season.''

The move could well be made permanent in the summer with the Hungarian having a year remaining on his Town deal.

Priskin's exit means that Town go into the final games of the season short on strikers with Connor Wickham and Jason Scotland the only recognised frontmen currently at the club. However, the Blues have a 24-hour recall on Ronan Murray once he completes the first month of his loan at Torquay early in April.

The Hungarian, who is currently away on international duty, will not be available for next month's game between the Blues and the Swans.

There will be no further moves in or out of Portman Road today with the 5pm deadline having passed.

So that's four strikers out on loan and two left to play up front.

Any odds on a 4-6-0 formation against Burnley?

Bye, not bothered if you come back. Not good enough at Championship level.

Now let's get a 25 goal man you've been promising us PJ!

With Swansea's style of play, it will be interesting to see if he does better than he has with us.

So... we have 2 strikers. A 17 year old and an overweight journeyman.

If no one coming in this is crazy and won't sell season tickets.... playing prisken up front with whickham would have showed what he is capable if, never a loan striker but as partnership bet it'd be different story.

We have nothing to play for, would have been pointless bringing anyone in, wickham will be the lone man uptop Scotland on the bench, I wonder how Scotland feels about this? It's the move he wanted!

All part of the plan to stop Nodge getting promotion! We beat the scum in April whilst Priksin shoots Swansea to the Premier League. Mark my words... ;)

So swansea look on him as providing them with enough cover, yet it leave us a bit bareboned. Should have let Scotland have this move, if anyone.

Hopefully saves us some money and has the chance of raising his market value in the summer. No point in bringing anyone in–the season's pretty much over. I wouldn't mind getting Ronan back, though, if he's going to get a game or three.

Why do Town fans always moan, just get on with it. Right now strikers aren't needed and it would be pointless paynig for wages when we're playing for nothing this season. Sell Priskin, then buy in a striker in the summer, build from the start of the summer onwards not get wasted loans into the club for a mid table finish

So we have nothing to play for? So we are mathmatically safe from going down then? As for him being sh1te he amassed a fair few MOM performances earlier in the season. No problem with him going just as long as we got a replacement, oh yes we didn't. So if we do have nothing to play for, not even pride and a passion to finish up as high as we can up the table then I guess theres no point any fans actually going to watch any game except for the scum game for the rest of the season, amazing!!! guess we had to pay all those court costs and pay offs somehow

Not to unhappy that he's gone out on loan, don't rate him personally, just surprised no one has come in. but think this through, we're safe, why lay out more expense in a loanee's wages? true, we're a bit short on numbers but we can recall Reggie at the drop of a hat if needs be. maybe Priskin has been the bad apple in the camp and has disrupted things, who knows. This gives Scotland the chance to prove his worth without fear of being dropped for Priskin. but for me Scotland doesn't cut the mustard either. i trust PJ, not so much ME and SC! All i want to see come the summer is some SERIOUS investment, not hollow promises!!! 3pts on the 21/4 will set me up a treat!!! COYB!!

totally agree, im sure ME's meeting with SC & PJ covered wages too, if we save £70k or £80k on wages between now and end of seaon with Tamas, plus maybe another £50k across the other lads who are out, thats £130k more towards Jimmy or someone else.......

Well, I guess PJ isn't too interested in trying 4-4-2 this season then.

And is this the final end to any transfers or is there some ridiculous super emergency loan window extension (especially for clubs that miscounted how many strikers they had).

We loaned him out before to QPR. Like a bad penny he came back, He will never score enough goals and looks as if ut doesnt bother him much either
