Norwich Linked With Bullard Bid
Norwich Linked With Bullard Bid
Wednesday, 1st Jun 2011 09:08

Norwich are set to make a £1.5 million offer for Town loanee Jimmy Bullard, according to a number of this morning’s tabloids. Bullard is said to have issued a ‘come and get me plea’, although the quotes attributed to the Hull City midfielder are the comments he made on Saturday’s Soccer AM taken out of context.

Bullard enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell with the Blues during the final few months of the season, winning the club’s Player of the Year award.

Town are keen to sign the 32-year-old on a permanent basis but with two years remaining on his £45,000-a-week contract at the KC Stadium, manager Paul Jewell has admitted that it would be a difficult deal for the club to do.

Premier League QPR, Wigan and more recently Norwich have also been linked, along with newly-relegated West Ham.

Meanwhile, Premier League Wolves are the latest club to be linked with Town target Keiren Westwood with the Irish international keeper set to leave Coventry on a free transfer this summer. Leicester, Celtic, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Everton are also reported to be eyeing the former Carlisle man.

Should have agreed a deal before taking him on loan, on the basis that if he did well, then it would have been a done deal already, but now get the feeling he won't be joining us!

Doesn't mean deals can't be in place RRanger so when the transfer windows open all they need to do is drive down.

Re the transfer window being closed ... believe you can still buy players but they can't play until next season. In fact believe the rule is clubs can buy players after their last competitive fixture. Might be wrong.

All this negativity regarding signings . We all know the best we will get are shop window loanees and the players no other club wants so lets stop being negative and be positive about the fact we have once again been treated as fools !!!! The only way support will grow is with a complete change in attitude to the supporters from the management at PR and that will be a long time coming ! PJ must now be seriously thinking of where his team for next season is going to come from as it seems to be one way traffic at PR with players leaving and no sign of any coming . I have to give credit to the scum ( with gritted teeth ) for the way they , last season and this , are getting the business done to enable players to bed in during pre-season whereas we will wait until all decent players are signed by other clubs and we pick up any left-overs during August !

It's going to be a long hard season. I am even very worried that PJ won't be here come Christmas - because surely he never expected this state of affairs when he came here? Surely he came because certain promises regarding transfers/money were made otherwise what was the point?

If PJ was to walk away what are our chances of persuading Joe Royal to come out of retirement and wave his magic want again?

I am one depressed and disillusioned crazee old bugger!

just read 81 posts .. but not a hint of where PJ is at the moment, or Cleggy. If u think this post is boring, that'll make 82.

Startin 11 with current squad anyone?

We need to sign Gio, if we can. He would be to us what Adel Taraabt was for QPR, just a lot better. This is no more optimistic than signing Jimmy.

Gio loved it here. I don't understand why people describe him coming as unrealistic.
ie Bellamy to Cardiff, Yakubu to Leicester etc etc

Crazee. He was promised money to spend re transfer fees but I dont think wage levels were agreed. Now, Ime all for realistic wage levels to keep our game alive but if new players are not I will see myself out the door and take up golf.

An invisible owner, a clueless chief exec, attendances down, garbage side, players leaving to play for lower league teams, unable to attract signings, fed up supporters, need i go on..... I get the funniest feeling that life as a town fan living in the heart of scummer territory is going to be a challenge next season!!

am loving DISSBOYITFC'S tag qaulity i think we should parade the punch before important matches and get a hazard county (norwich) mascot to clean up the mess it makes as it parades around the pitch.

makes no sense, surely hull will let him go for free, and nodge would not pay 40-50k / week (but qpr might)

I know a number of our fans are going on about "promotion".
Lets face facts. Most of the other teams around us have made significant signings already (Crystal palace etc) and are now giving them time to bed in. If we are unlucky (we were last year) we will end up with 2 or 3 loanees right before the start of the season.
I'm not being pessimistic, - but I think we are going to be facing a massive battle against relegation next season unless someone at our club starts closing some deals....
Feel sorry for Paul Jewell........

For the reasons stated by Norfolktrueblue the club is on the edge. Next season could be the decider and the next few weeks vital in shaping the team.

With so many quality players required I am expecting nothing more than mid-table as the team hopefully gels.

I'm fed up of all the bull i keep being fed by ITFC. As a long serving season ticket holder i deserve better!!
"We are signing a new player in the next couple of weeks" Three and a half weeks ago!!
"I want players as early as possible so they can bed in etc" One month ago!!

Its all lies and spin people! Players leaving, None coming in, Gmac and Norris left for nothing after costing nearly 4 million because Clegg and co f**ked up in not getting a contract for them.
Its all very very gloomy, This coming season could well be my last as a season ticket holder after almost 20 years.......I'm not being fed c**p anymore!
ITFC either respect us paying fans or shut your mouth and stop giving us false hopes and promises!!!!!!!

Sigghhhh....

If being a football fan is really all about disappointment, pain and having aspirations far above reality then being a Town Fan is a dream come true.

So many on here are saying wise and realistic stuff (IMHO) and yet we still keep going to, ahem, 'fortress' PR to put money into the coffers of these losers.

Legend - I feel your anger and disillusionment - really I do. I bet you £10 you buy another season ticket next year though and it's that kind of blind faith in the face of all the evidence to the opposite that will keep the club afloat as a mediocre, middle-to-bottom placed team for the foreseeable future.

Oh well, no squad, losing players, can't sign any decent new ones, an on-the-way-down manager who's already seen his, ahem, 'best' years and a half-empty PR. Here's to another rip-roaring season with the mighty Town...

Well said Legend,
I have never been so disillusioned with this club as I am now. I see the players we have,- and there is NO WAY these guys can compete for a top 6 spot (even with a few "miraculous" results!). Its depressing to see this clearly before the season begins.
We need a completely revamped defence and a couple of quality strikers URGENTLY. McCauley did really well last season and his last ditch tackles were sometimes the only thing between us getting beat and us getting thrashed in many games last season. He will be sorely missed if we just expect lads to step in from reserves/youth team.
If we don't revamp our squad, I am going to dread hearing the results on a Saturday.....
