Town in Hunt for Hunt?
Town in Hunt for Hunt?

Irish reports claim Town have made an enquiry regarding Reading striker Noel Hunt. The Blues and Portsmouth are said to be close to making offers for the 27-year-old Irish international.

Hunt, who has a year left on his Royals contract, began his career with Shamrock Rovers, moving on to hometown club Waterford United on loan, then to Scotland with Dunfermline and Dundee United before joining Reading for around £600,000 in July 2008.

The 5ft 8in tall striker, who has been capped by his country at U21 and B levels and three times with the senior side, scored 10 goals in 26 starts and 14 sub appearances last season, often operating in a wide role rather than down the middle, and was impressive form as the Berkshire club reached the play-off final where they were beaten by Swansea.

According to the reports, the Royals may look to cash in on Hunt this summer as they look to rebuild ahead of another promotion challenge next season.

If long stays I'd like to see us go for church. Young and unlikely to be a starter. Probably cheaper than hunt.

I've always liked what i've seen when he's played for reading. Got a bit of fire in his belly unlike some of our current crop and can play out wide or up top

Meh, rather we went in for Sharpe again. Anybody heard anything else? Seems to be endless rumours about Creswell from Tranmere.

Sharpe for Ipswich? Well he did a job for Wellington, only problem is he's almost 234 years old but he still has the ability to make defenses crumble...Could be just what we need, good shout Tractaboy.

Be happy with Hunt.

Any news on Conway and Goodwillie or were they just rumours?

Also like the look of Dale Jennings at Tranmere with the lad Cresswell too.

P.S WILL PEOPLE GET OVER JORDAN RHODES!!!!!!!

GTR King, apologies but i consider carson to be in the midfielder category as he was playing on the wings during his successful spell towards the end of last season, but i agree with you that its beginning to sound better now with the young lads coming through

Dale Jennings is a great shout - he has just had a successful trial at Bayern Munich though so may be out of our league unforunately

Why on earth are people still on about Rhodes?! Has the penny not dropped, he will NEVER return here after JM sacked his Dad!

Anyway, Noel Hunt - would be an okay signing - but can think of better players.

Thanks WadzillaBhoy,
I seem to remember him having a cracking 90 minute career for Sheffield UTD, ( or was that Sean Bean?) better than Billy Sharp
AndI just thought he good improve the female attendance at PR better than Billy Sharp!

Sorry Noel, no thanks! If it was his brother it would be a different story.

Blood some of the youngsters and give the 'other two' a final chance.

Does not matter what strikers we have if we dont get creative midfielders/ good wingers.
