Irish reports claim Town have made an enquiry regarding Reading striker Noel Hunt. The Blues and Portsmouth are said to be close to making offers for the 27-year-old Irish international.

Hunt, who has a year left on his Royals contract, began his career with Shamrock Rovers, moving on to hometown club Waterford United on loan, then to Scotland with Dunfermline and Dundee United before joining Reading for around £600,000 in July 2008.

The 5ft 8in tall striker, who has been capped by his country at U21 and B levels and three times with the senior side, scored 10 goals in 26 starts and 14 sub appearances last season, often operating in a wide role rather than down the middle, and was impressive form as the Berkshire club reached the play-off final where they were beaten by Swansea.

According to the reports, the Royals may look to cash in on Hunt this summer as they look to rebuild ahead of another promotion challenge next season.

broomfield123 added 20:21 - Jun 13 maybe a good signing.just think we need to concerntrate on center midfieldand cover for defence.we arent a million miles away.we dont need a 3rd keeper providing we get pollit as a player/coach.we should sell priskin and try and recoup a bit of his transfer fee in which we will not get anywhere what we payed but at least a bit.wide players we are fine with about 6 or 7 wide players.
