Town are being linked with a move for veteran midfielder Lee Bowyer, who is a free agent after leaving Birmingham at the end of the season.

The Blues are reported to be in talks with the 34-year-old former Charlton, Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle man regarding a deal which would make him amongst the highest earners at Portman Road. Derby are also understood to be in the hunt.

The controversial 5ft 9in tall Londoner won one full England cap when a Leeds player in 2002, in addition to 13 U21 caps.

Town are certainly in the market for central midfield players with loanee Jimmy Bullard and skipper David Norris no longer at the club.

On Friday, Blues boss Paul Jewell said he expected to make another signing on Tuesday with a further deal likely before the end of the week.

The potential wage demands worry me slightly but I think the club realise the potential pitfalls of team harmony being destroyed by 1 player earning a lot more than the rest of the squad. If Bowyer or any other potential signing have wage demands out of clubs wage structure and wont compromise then they wont sign.

He would be an asset to any championship team!
