Andrews Talks Continue

Blackburn’s Republic of Ireland international midfielder Keith Andrews looks set to complete his season-long loan move to Town in the next couple of days. TWTD understands the 30-year-old has already been at Portman Road to talk to manager Paul Jewell with the clubs currently negotiating the terms of the deal.

Andrews has opted to move to the Blues ahead of a number of other interested Championship sides, including Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, having been impressed with what Jewell had to say when they met.

Town and Blackburn were in talks regarding the terms of the loan today with the discussions set to continue on Wednesday. The deal looks likely to be concluded well in time for the Dubliner to line-up for the Blues when they visit Bristol City for the opening game of the season on Saturday.

Andrews is contracted to Blackburn until 2013 but made only three starts and three sub appearances last season and is not in manager Steve Kean’s plans for the season ahead.

Meanwhile, former loanee Rory Fallon has joined Yeovil Town on a short-term deal having left Plymouth at the end of last season.

Ex-Town midfielder David Cawley is on trial back home in Ireland with Dundalk having been released by the Blues at the end of last season.

Excellent news, looks like another one in and if done tomorrow, still gives us 48 hours to wrap up a defender!

I hope this chopping and changin works. Even if he signs, I don't think he should be chucked straight in on Sat. I do rate the player but the team is what's important and we should try and let the pre-season XI gel a bit.

Oh, and 2 up front please Jewell we have nothing to fear in this division! Especially away to Bristol City*!

Sign him up permanently, You could get him for £1 Mil, Otherwise we will have the same problem next year and will have to rebuild again.

Great addition though even if only a loan.

Would be a good signing - however, all this tells me that we will be set up with Andrews, Bowyer and Leadbitter (captain) in central midfield. Which clearly says 4-5-1 to me!! I HATE it when we play that formation as it wont get the best out of chopra, JET or priskin!I can MAYBE understand why we play it away from home but at HOME - NEVER!!!! ha! COYB!!

Good news. I too wonder where they will all fit in, and surely we won't play one-up-front with Chopra, JET and Ellington brought in to join Scotland and Priskin. Chopra and JET at least have to start, don't they?!

As for Fallon, that was another lucky escape. Has Keane stayed in charge we would have paid a fee to bring him to Ipswich!

Why does it have to be 4-5-1? Why not 4-3-3 will JET & Duke either side of Chopra, I can't wait! COYB!!!

Another year loan player, oh dear and when are we going to get someone to partner Chopra.

Dreblue please, tell me about the intricacies of 4 5 1? Tell me why it shouldnt work with chopra? 4 4 2 is an old english system that wins nothing. No side that wins anything plays it. Jeez.

completely agree with your line up bluegonzo.. it is a 4.5.1 but with jet and martin on the wings we have creativity! Gives bowyer more of a licence to get forward as well. I think it is a quality side, with the likes of carson on the bench, cant be bad!

Good player but i think a 442 would get the best out of chopra and jet

A good addition but I am also concerned that this means 1 up front. Chopra should be partnered by JET, Duke or Priskin.
From what I've seen of Martin recently he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet. My preferred team (certainly at home) would be:

Stockdale
Edwards Ingimarsson Delaney Cresswell
Andrews
Carson Martin
Bowyer
Chopra JET
