Town Appeal Against Dyer Verdict
Town Appeal Against Dyer Verdict
Wednesday, 24th Nov 1999 17:24

Town are appealing against yesterday's Football League tribunal which ordered them to pay £50,000 to Kieron Dyer. The money was part of Dyer's last signing on fee agreed when he signed his last contract and still due to his as he made no formal transfer request. The club continue to argue otherwise. A club statement said "We are disappointed at the tribunal's verdict which we do not, and because of what we know cannot, accept. We intend to lodge an appeal."

Neil Midgley has stated that he would rather stay at Luton than return to Portman Road. A two month loan spell has come to an end with him returning to Portman Road as cover for the strikers. With Naylor suspended for two games from Thursday, Johnson on four yellow cards and Richard Logan injured manager George Burley needs the 21 year old. Midgley has done well at Luton and sees himself as having a much mre realistic chance of first team football with the Hatters than Town. He said "I need first team football and I think there is more chance of me getting that at Luton. I also get on well with the lads here, because we are all of a similar age, but at the end of the day it is not up to me. All I can do is keep doing my best"
