Collins Could Sign Permanently
Collins Could Sign Permanently
Monday, 12th Sep 2011 08:51

Town boss Paul Jewell says he will be interested in making new loanee Danny Collins a permanent addition to his squad if he continues to play as he did at Blackpool on Saturday. The Stoke defender signed on a 93-day loan on Friday and is with the Blues until after the Barnsley game on Saturday 10th December.

Jewell said: “We’re looking at it as a loan to start with and if he does as well as he did at Blackpool, we’re certainly interested.”

The Blues manager has been chasing the 31-year-old for some weeks but says the deal eventually came together rapidly, not even giving the Welsh international time to train with his new team-mates prior to Saturday’s match: “We’ve been trying for a while but it happened very quickly. He couldn’t even train with us on Friday.

“We had him at the football club but because of paperwork, bureaucracy, red tape, we didn’t get clearance until 4pm on Friday afternoon. I think that shows how well he did, having not even trained with the team.”

Collins's Stoke contract, reportedly worth £25,000-a-week, runs until the end of the season.

Looking at the commanding way he played on Saturday and considering he hasn't even trained with the team, how on earth can anybody moan about him signing permanantly ? Sometimes I worry about the idiot posters on here ! Rant over, have a nice day.

Agreed, would be a great permanent signing, along with Andrews (a must if possible) - but I can't see it happening while we are performing the way we are!

Would be a great signing! Need as many defenders as we can get as our defence has been such a lie-ability over the last few years!
