Priskin: I Want to Leave Town
Priskin: I Want to Leave Town
Monday, 12th Sep 2011 13:19

Striker Tamás Priskin says he wants to go on loan to a team where he will play regularly and leave the Blues permanently either in January or at the end of the season. The Hungarian, a £1.7 million buy from Watford in the summer of 2009, has yet to feature for Town this season.

Speaking to the Hungarian media, the 24-year-old said: "I enjoy my role in the Hungarian national team, I recorded an assist against Sweden but my situation is not the same at Ipswich.

"I don't think I'll be in the squad for our next game and I'm sure I won't play. Simply, they don't rely on me. I don't get the chance from Paul Jewell, I'm in his bad books.

"Fortunately my contract will expire in [June] 2012, so I can sign to anywhere next summer. I'm sure this is my last season here, I don't want to stay.

"It would be great to go on loan to a team where I can play regularly, this would be the most important thing for me at the moment. Then I'll see in January, I'll go to another club if I get the possibility."

Priskin, who was close to joining Leeds on loan last month before the Elland Road club pulled out at the last minute, says he’d like to stay in England, but dismisses claims he was near to signing for ex-loan club Swansea earlier in the summer: "Germany or Holland are attractive for me but the country and the football I really like is here in England.

"I like and have got used to this atmosphere and it would be a dream to play in the Premier League again.

"I've heard that I had been linked with Swansea but I hadn't received a concrete offer and they bought two strikers."

The frontman has made 34 starts and 24 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring nine goals. While with Town the Slovakia-born striker has spent time on loan at QPR in addition to last season's spell at Swansea.

"Another Pablo Counago." A bit unfair, Pablo scored roughly 1 goal in every three games in both Ipswich spells and a little worse on loan at Palace. Priskin 1 in 6 and worse on loan. To my eyes and simplistic view, Scotland always wants to have a go and score where Priskin is less keen and wants to get close up before even thinking about it - I know which sort of striker I prefer !

9 goals in 58 appearances and people bleating that he wasn't given a chance. Apart from the Arsenal game on TV when he was putting himself in the shop window has been a complete waste of money. Far too lazy for most of the games and couldn't hit a barn door from two yards with a shotgun.
Taxi for Tamas!!!!

He's never had a fair crack of the whip. In and out of the team. And PJ has, for some reason left him completely out of the squad. Can't blame him for wanting to leave. He could be a star act in a side playing with confidence.

I agree with several posters on here. We keep signing players with skill and they don't perform for ITFC. This suggests that it isn't just a question of the players playing well, but team selection and motivation by the management.

I think a lot of posters on here miss the point. How many times has Jewell played him? I can forgive most of our players almost anything that happened (didn't happen!) under the last "management" team! I use the word management loosely. All I would like is to see him given a a few games just to see if he can work in the new side. My belief is though he is just not the type of player PJ likes.

If the owner is worried about the sustainability of our wage bill in this division, then here is the perfect opportunity to lower it a bit.

He's obviously not in PJ's plans, and we have plenty of cover in this department so I don't think he'll be missed. If he'd been banging them in every week then he'd have a right to moan, however this is far from the case.

Not capable of scoring enough goals, hence nobody else wants him either.
Could be a long lonely season Mr Priskin.

Have to feel sorry for Marcus Evans. Poured a lot of his money into the club and gets this sort of thing. What did Priskin cost, £1.7Mn? !! I wonder if he is questioning his involvement? An obviously astute business man now gets repaid with all this tosh. Must be keeping him awake at night. Hope he sticks with us and PJ & the team can repay his trust & investment! All business sense seems to go out the window when it comes to football.

Rather unprofessional of Priskin to speak out like this when we probably gets about £10K a week. If he scored lots of goals in pre-season then I'd think he was treated unfairly, but he only got 1 didn't he? If you take out the 14-goal season based on which we bought him, Priskin scored 1 for Watford, 2 for Preston, 5 for Ipswich, 1 for QPR and 1 for Swansea. He has been given loads of chances therefore. Often when I have seem him he seems to lack the right sort of attitude or effort. With wages, £3M wasted on him sadly.

If this was another business and someone spoke out publicly, they would probably be sacked.

Get rid of him with Leadboots asap, save the wages.

I've always rated Priskin - IMO he's one of our more skillful players, good with the ball at his feet, reasonably quick and able to hit a decent shot from outside the box...........however, what you get from him does appear to depend on what frame of mind he's in (that's the part which I agree is similar to Pablo).

Unlike Chopra and Scotland, he's not a natural finisher and probably not going to get 15+ on a regular basis.

Therefore, given the current personnel it probably is best for both parties if we parted company.
I would put him behind Chopra, Scotland, JET and Murphy.

All the best Tamas.

Poor attitude from Priskin, who has wasted his opportunities at ITFC.

Don't seem to remember him doing a lot at QPR or Swansea either, so perhaps not just an ITFC thing?

legoman - you've summed it up well in a few words, my thoughts exactly.
As much as I love this Football Club in terms of name - it's pedigree has totally disappeared over the last few years, and I too have become a follower - because I am no longer prepared to throw money at an seemingly lost cause.
I know I am not alone i.e around 40000+ (and increasing) less on home gates.
Never thought I would see such degeneration of the name:- IPSWICH TOWN FC.
- but the memories can never be taken away by anyone.

Now let the 'eluded brigade' tell me once again to go down the A140 - something I would never do.

The hypocricy on here is unreal - if a player had have said this when Roy was in charge - people would have been slating the manager and calling for his head. The fact is, this is yet another player who PJ has 'fallen out with' - it appears it's okay for PJ to do this, but not Jim or Roy. Pathetic.

Not only have results been considerably worse under PJ, attendances are also WELL down - now it would seem he also falls out with players as well. The more I hear about PJ the more I really dislike him. The sooner he goes the better.

P.s. Priskin's goal scoring record is actually MUCH better than Ellington - a mate of PJ's who is yet another terrible signing - although the chap from Reading may challenge him for PJ's worst signing. It's jobs for the boys under PJ - even the fitness coach is his mate - with no experience as a fitness coach - let's not forget this is the same PJ who said we didn't even need one.

What a sorry state this club is in! Priskin should be given a chance - he can't be worse. Chopra has flopped. Just two goals and that was in one match (of course not helped by PJ's boring negative formations and tactics).

When will the penny drop? When PJ leads us straight in to Division 1?

jas0999 added 18:34 - Sep 12
p.s. the idiot who said Ellington is proven over a number of seasons - you must be easily pleased - nine goals in FOUR seasons - a little over two a year. Get a grip.

One other point - when appointed all you PJ lovers said he as 'an arm round the shoulder' type of manager. Is this what you meant - making players feel unwanted or slating them at Press Conferences (Martin)? He's about as much an arm round the shoulder manager as he is a 4-4-2 man!

JEWELL OUT!

Jas - can't believe you are suggesting that Chopra has flopped! He has played six games for us - how can you possibly judge him like that? Or maybe you think you can; you already want Jewell out 6 games into the season! The same manager who, with play off form, got us out of the mire last season.

Priskin played 58 times; he has had more than a chance.

.......... Tamas Priskin - can understand why you want to move.
Go to another Club, with a Manager, who will at least ATTEMPT to play to your strengths - anyone who knows the game knows you have talent.

You are, of course, too young for this Club under the present regime anyway.

Menac. The elation felt by the players of Kean being replaced is what got us out of the mire last season. Once that wore off the results followed!
