Edwards Set for Meeting Ahead of Sentencing
Edwards Set for Meeting Ahead of Sentencing
Wednesday, 12th Oct 2011 08:55

Town right-back Carlos Edwards is due meet probation officers compiling a report on his circumstances later today ahead of Thursday's sentencing. On Monday, the 32-year-old, who could face jail, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and without insurance.

Meanwhile, the premature twins his wife Denille gave birth to over the weekend are set to spend several weeks in hospital.

The babies, who are currently in incubators in intensive care at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, were born weighing only 2lb each with one understood to be suffering with jaundice.

His family is going through a lot right now.

I do hope his mind is on the game, if not maybe it's a good time to give him a few days off to spend with his family.

hampstead_blue,

I agree and think it's highly likely he won't be playing on Saturday whatever the outcome tomorrow, which is a shame as he was extremely effective against Brighton.

I guess he's entitled to two weeks' paternity leave like the rest of us?

My thoughts go out to all his family!

Start for Wabara maybe? Would rather give him a chance than have Edwards playing when his mind is obviously going to be elsewhere.

Big came Saturday, COYB!

There should be a petition however you spell it to keep him with just a slap on the wrist as look what he had to do and look what his going throgh. Wabara will do a job let him have the game off

As someone who has held a 12 hour old, 2lb baby whilst still attached to the incubater and all the tubes , I can only imagine what he is going through with 2.

Personally I would give him as much time off as necessary to sort this out , but insist that he hires a driver. If he wont then take it directly out of his wages and appoint one!!!!

We clearly brought in Reece because of this , so lets us him!

Jail would be utterly absurd in such a case. I assume that is not a real option.

I agree with the above comments, and my thoughts go out to his little ones and his families health.

However, lets not loose track of the fact that he has broken the law, and as a disqualified driver, ie someone who does not have the right to drive on the roads as he is seen incompetent on the roads, and as such, with the roads being a dangerous place could have been involved in an accident which also wrecked havoc against another families life.

A taxi would have got him there just as quick.

We have to leave the sentencing to the authorities - it's not up to us, as at the end of the day he broke the law.

However, thoughts and best wishes to his family at this very difficult time.

As much as I support him as a player for our club, did no-one read the news article he was actually caught after dropping his kid to school ..not on some mercy dash involving his wife.

"Edwards, of Century Drive, Kesgrave, was
spotted driving his black BMW near Tesco in Kesgrave on September 26 and was stopped and arrested in nearby Dodson Vale.

He had been taking his daughter to Cedarwood Primary School." Evening Star
