U18s Draw at Southampton in Game of Five Penalties Monday, 31st Oct 2011 12:40 Skipper Callum Bennett (pictured) both scored and missed from the spot — two of five penalties awarded during the game, three to the Blues - as Town’s U18s drew 3-3 with Southampton at their Staplewood training ground on Saturday. Jack Marriott and Tom Winter netted the Blues’ other two goals. Town’s Wales U17 international midfielder Elliot Scotcher had the first of three first half penalties saved in the 25th minute, Southampton’s Joe Curtis subsequently also seeing his spotkick stopped. The Saints, however, went in front on 33, inevitably from the spot, when Omar Rowe found the net. Soon after, Dan Bowman made it 2-0 to the home side. Moments after the break, defender Bennett pulled one back via Town’s second spotkick, then as the game moved into its final half hour striker Marriott brought the scores level via a rare goal from open play. Rowe put the Saints back in front before frontman Winter headed what would be the game’s final goal, prior to Bennett missing an opportunity to win it via the Blues’ third penalty of the afternoon in the 83rd minute when he hit the bar.
