Priskin Completes Derby Switch
Priskin Completes Derby Switch

Town striker Tamás Priskin has completed his loan move to Derby County. News of the Hungarian’s switch to the Rams first broke on Tuesday.

Priskin, 25, will be unable to face the Blues when Derby are at Portman Road on Saturday 17th December. He will be at Pride Park until January 2nd.

The former Watford man trained with his new team-mates yesterday and says he has made the move - his third loan deal of his time at Town - to get games: "It is always a frustration for a player when he is not playing. I was frustrated and that is why I am really happy to come to Derby.

"I am really pleased to join this great club. I think it is a great opportunity for me to play a few games and, hopefully, I can help the team.

"I heard about the move for the first time on Tuesday and everything happened quickly. As soon as I heard about Derby's interest, I wanted to come here. The decision was easy for me. This is a new challenge and one I am ready for.

"I was waiting for this moment to get games under my belt. I am really pleased I have got this opportunity and I want to take it. Hopefully, I can score a few goals, put in good performances and just help the team out."

Rams boss Nigel Clough, who says he consulted Priskin's former Watford and Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers before moving for the frontman, is delighted to have made the signing: "To get a striker in on loan of Tamás's pedigree is a massive boost for us and we're delighted to have him here.

"There aren't too many current internationals available for loan at the moment and Tamás will be a very good addition to the squad.

"I am sure he will be a hit here. Tamás has proved in the past, especially at Watford, that he is capable of scoring goals at this level."

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s somewhat speculative claim that Blues manager Paul Jewell would look to sign his former Derby striker Rob Hulse appears unlikely to prove to be correct with QPR manager Neil Warnock not anticipating any of his fringe players moving on before this afternoon's 5pm deadline.

Warnock said: “I don’t expect anyone else to go out other than the ones like Hogan [Ephraim] who have already gone.

"As far as I can tell, there’s no money out there, and our lads will have to stay where they are for the time being.”

Elsewhere, trialist Teddy Bjarnason has left Portman Road after his two-day trial, the Icelandic international having played in Tuesday’s reserves friendly against West Ham.

Ok so Priskin wasn't perfect but I'd still have him in the side ahead of old man Ellington & permanently crocked and on loan Murphy, wtf are you doing to our club Jewell ?

Very dissappointed ... he wont be facing us at Derby. Damn, we might have kept a clean sheet for that game!

No place at Town for lazy players who are not prepared to put the effort in. Take Kuqi for example, not blessed with lots of skill on the ball but prepared to give 100% every game and was excellent for Town. Tamas I believe is a skillful player but doesn't put the effort in on the pitch or score goals for Town albeit not given a lot of service from midfield. Go and prove yourself at Derby.

northdevonblue :- Agree. Arsenal aside, he certainly didn't make the most of his opportunities.

Priskin isn't lazy, no doubt those of you who think he is would say the same about JET. These players simply have a totally different style and physique to the likes of Carson, who looks like he's trying to get everywhere at a million miles an hour.

Anyway, a poor Keane signing. Great technical ability but lacks concentration and mental strength. Could prove to be a success elsewhere, but I doubt it.

Seen Priskin play a few times and he was just lazy, disinterested, one one one with the oppo keeper and he just shot wide. For me this is a good chance to clear out the dead wood that haunts this club. Why cant they take leadboots as well?
