Port Vale have emerged as rivals to Northampton for the loan signature of Town full-back or midfielder Shane O’Connor. The League Two club are reported to be on the verge of completing a move until the first week in January.

At this morning’s press conference, boss Paul Jewell revealed that Northampton Town, also in League Two, enquired about the availability of the Irish U21 international yesterday.

Here we go another one waiting to be pushed out the door because jewell cant get on with him could live with it if he was a decent manager lets see how many more players he can alienate

No, he's another fringe player who's not going to make it at this level. A few good games, a bit of potential, but PJ sees him training every day, we don't. Bing young doesn't necessarily make him good.

Just don't get this - versatile on the left side, young, cheap? Clearly has a few issues (JB? Chopra? JET?) but when he has played has shown passion and desire and a bit of quality which is what we need for the next few seasons.

Personally think that if Port Vale or Northampton get him they'll be absolutely delighted with the acquisition and will be wanting to keep him for longer.

Bracknell blue - agreed but he also sees JET, Ellington, Bullard and Leadbitter in training and unless they hide it well in matches I am not sure how it transfers over?

Why? I could undestand us loaning him out to a lower league side to get games. He's young, fast and can play in midfield and defence. I for one would be really sorry to see him go.

Anyone who thinks O Connor is the same standard of player as Bullard ,Jet and even Leadbitter because he tried hard in the very few games he has played (for a reason ) is very deluded .
Newboy ... did Keane have personal issues with OConnor also as he never played him either ? And all the other championship and league 1 managers who dont think he is good enough to take on loan ?

Wait, I just read the intro again and now feel quite the fool. Wherever he goes, I hope he gets some good experience under his belt.

Under the dark days of Keane I thought O'Connor should have been given more of a chance, but now Jewell doesn't want him either and only League Two level clubs having any interest in him, I will be glad to see him leave.

He should be playing for ITFC not being loaned out. Another example of Jewell's poor management.

Bullard, Leadbitter, Bowyer & Co must be having a right old laugh, the players who should be pushing them for a starting place (Drury, O'Conner and Healy) are apparantly not up to it. What a state of affairs when the first team midfeld is poor and the reserves so bad that they are kicked out!

Calm down its a months loan to prove himself and get match fit!!! I'm not jewells biggest fan but some of you are making this a witch hunt picking on anything.... a months loan for a young player for experience is good news for me!

surco - suggest you read comments fully before slagging people off - it's called comprehension! Whilst I accept he isn't world class he deserves more of a chance than Jewell has given him just like the other youngsters. Which of his signings Creswell aside has been a success? Do we not lack width and pace and cover on the left side? This is no panic its just observations on a piss poor 6 months with no plan and no nouse!

As stated before Worcesterblue if OConnor is as good a player as some think he will shine 2 leagues below us , why does he deserve more of a chance because hes young ,prove himself ?
I would put Martin,Carson,Jet,Kennedy ,Murphy and Bowyer in the left role before picking O Connor so adequate cover i would say .
Sonko is solid , Chopra has 6 in 15 stay like that we have a 20 goal striker,Bullard was voted player of the year last season and was exceptional against West Ham ,Boro,Brighton a few bad games do not make him a bad player because some of you have fish memories ,his loans of Stockdale ,Andrews and Collins have all been good .
My observations are we are not as bad a side as the last few results ,but only time will tell
