Veteran midfielder Mark Kennedy is a surprise recall to the Blues side for tonight's game at Burnley. The 35-year-old Irishman comes into a much-changed midfield with Jimmy Bullard and Lee Bowyer as expected returning to the XI.

Arran Lee-Barrett makes his first league start of the season in goal, with Richard Wright sidelined by a minor shoulder problem, the same injury which keeps David Stockdale out of the side. US U20 international Cody Cropper, who is yet to make a senior appearance, is on the bench.

Ibrahima Sonko is included amongst the subs after his absence due to a hamstring problem.

Daryl Murphy's inclusion allows manager Paul Jewell to line his side up either in a 4-4-2 formation as against Reading on Saturday or in the 4-5-1 he utilised earlier in the campaign.

I sincerely hope the boys can pull a miracle out of the bag tonight but as some of the other posters on here have pointed out yet another baffling starting XI put out by Jewell. COYBs!

Not every successful manager gets rid of the entire squad and starts again you know. the best managers make the best of what they have got.
