Peters Back With Town
Peters Back With Town
Thursday, 8th Dec 2011 10:24

Midfielder or full-back Jaime Peters is back at Portman Road after his loan at Bournemouth wasn’t extended into a third month prior to the recent deadline.

The Canadian, who has another 18 months left on his Town contract, made 10 appearances during his two months with the League One side.

The 24-year-old's only game for the Blues this season was the Carling Cup defeat to Northampton in August.

some of you have very short memories, rewind back to jan this year a certain jamie peters kept a multi million player in his pocket aka arshavin, even my mate who supports arsenal was impressed with him.

this lad has buckets of pace and gives 100% defo a player for the bench at least especially now we are reduced to 4 out field players on it, as he can play any were except center half and do a job for us, he is a jack of all trades and master of none but defo not a player to get rid of, his end product was never that great unlike carson ect, but he didnt throw his teddy out of the pram if asked to play out of position, i can defo see him being a good box to box midfielder un like leadboots who im glad is injured gives other a chance to see why he is awfull lol.

just hope we dont embarass our selves on sky again

seemed to do rather well against the gunners if my memory serves me well , i remember shearer being slated as useless when he had his poor run . the lad deseves a chance as much as any of the players we have .

Just give him a chance. We have almost 11 players on the pitch who are well below par so give him a go even on the bench should help. Stop sticking with the 'dads army' cos it's not working.

Legend ..how may games did you watch Peters play for Bournemouth to have such a view on him ? I live near Bournemouth and have a number of Cherries season ticket holders as friends and watched him a couple of times including a 6-0 drubbing by Brentford in which Peters was awful and didnt even look non league standard ,since that game he has not made the Cherries squad . He was signed as a right back for them and during the loan they signed another and tried Peters in midfield .
So lets not hail him as a saviour of football because he had one good game in 8 years at the club against Arsenal even Healy and Priskin looked good in that game !!

obviously not many of you "supporters" read the site right, ref this story http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=19587 it seems Bournemouth DID want Peters but WE WANTED him back, maybe to give him a run in the team and push edwards up into midfield??

Really dont know if Peters is good enough for first team but definitely has had some brilliant games. Definitely deserves a chance to show what he can do unfair to judge him on one carling cup game under PJ.
Although i fear he is only back so he is available to sell in Jan transfer window

I'm not sure how anyone who watched him keep pace with and match a player like Andry Arshavin can say Peters is rubbish. If he can do that he obviously has the ability to play for us. Just because a player has a couple of poor games does not mean that they are automatically rubbish. If thats the case, lets kick out every player we have in the team. If he is showing the desire and effort, then give him a chance.

Souper Jim if Peters is totally 'bereft of confidence then he should fit in with the rest of the team nicely.
It's evident the team needs a shake up, I think we have consistently played Peters in the wrong position, he is surely an attacking central midfielder with the pace we have been missing. Anything is worth a try at the moment because the only place we are going is Division 1

Some are calling for him to come into our first team - strange, when Bournemouth, a much worse team than us, don't seem to think it's worthwhile keeping him!

Welcome back to our longest serving player :^D

Would be happy to see him given a game at right midfield - one thing Jaime always gives is 100% workrate, so at least Edwards will be less exposed (particularly away from home)

One of the problems playing Jaime at full-back was that he was so keen to get involved in the play, he'd sometimes go walkabout to close people down / hunt the ball and end up being caught out of position...

Bluetone if they wanted him so badly why has he not played since 8th November or even made their squad ?

Peters is one of our best players? What are you on about? He's one of the least technically gifted players we have. Yes he gives it everything, and that can't always be said for everyone else, which means he's popular - but don't start claiming he's one of our best players. He doesn't have a proper position, he's been here for years and has never nailed a place down and Bournemouth had no interest in keeping him on. He's not good enough at this level.

Give him one game at least, he can't be any worse ( 7 defeats on the trot )

Put him on the wing then. At least he will provide some effort and pace!

Not good enough, but then again no worse than many others in the first team. When you think of all the money that's been spent since Evans came in, that's a really sad state of affairs.

Surco, my thoughts too. Yes he is quite quick and tries hard (sometimes) but then the same could be said of myself, he can't cross and needs several touches to control the ball and tends to wander (I tick all these boxes as well).

Yes he has had a few good games for Town but then so did Finidi George (well one)!

Mr bluetone, you keep referencing that article, the content of which is nothing but a few speculative comments from a fortnight ago. As others have said, Peters wasn't consistently making their squad, let alone their first 11. With that in mind I find it far more likely that Bournemouth decided against extending the loan, rather than we desperately wanted him back.

Peters has played well for us in the past, but those performances are a long time ago now. He looks a shadow of the player he was back then and even then he was always limited. If you think Edwards gets exposed at right back, is all 4 foot nothing of Peters really a sensible answer?

Seriously, some of you who like to play armchair manager don't know your backside from your elbow. I will be surprised if we ever see Peters in an Ipswich shirt again, he clearly needs a new start. It's not about being negative, it's about not making utterly ludicrous suggestions based on an almost complete lack of understanding.

Peters will shine under the new manager. He is no worse than the players who have lost 7 in a row.

Campag_Velocet added 14:22 - Dec 8
Its not that he's not good enough for Bournemouth, it's more a case that they are skint, and because they weren't in the FA Cup, Peters would only have been eligible for two games before the 93 day deadline would expire (on Xmas Eve), and they would have had to send him back, so they thought it was better to send Peters back, and bring in a loanee who would be eligible for the Xmas period as well.

Garv added 14:23 - Dec 8
He can replace JET on the bench definitely! Mis-managed by Keane being put at right back which he is not, and please, he is not a better right back than Edwards. Some of these people literally must've seen about two games all season!

Agree with Petermorris.

Always liked Peters he always gives his all and is a decent player, he just never plays. It's hardly surprising he looks rusty and out of shape! Against arsenal at PR I thought he was one of our best players, thought he looked excellent! Then Jewell dropped him and we've barely seen him since! Had he ever been given decent run in the team I think he could have been very good for us.

Useless in his last few appearances for us, and not wanted at a L1 side says a lot. Doesn't know his position - certainly not a RB and has no end ball for a winger.

Hopefully given a free transfer in January to stop people on here thinking he is the saviour.

Why have people assumed he was not good enough. Where does it say in the news that Bournemouth sent him back for that reason? Did any of you bother to think that they couldn't afford him?

I have seen him have really good days and really bad days. I hope for his sake that he can show that he has benefitted from the loan spell during training.

As PJ has said time and time again. Anyone at the club will be considered they just have to put the hard yards in during training.
