Leicester Delay St Ledger Deal
Leicester Delay St Ledger Deal
Wednesday, 11th Jan 2012 22:43

Town boss Paul Jewell has revealed that Sean St Ledger’s move to the Blues is on hold until after Leicester’s FA Cup replay against Nottingham Forest next Tuesday.

Jewell said: “Leicester have got an FA Cup replay against Nottingham Forest, which they must only just have remembered because now they want to keep him for that.

“I think everything was agreed, I don’t know whether they’ve had any injuries in training, but they told us last night that they want to keep him because they play Notts Forest in the cup next week.”

The Blues boss says he could now move on to other targets but needs to speak to Foxes boss Nigel Pearson: “We have got other irons in the fire but that was one which we thought was going to happen but it hasn’t.

“We’ll have to wait and see. We think Sean’s a good player but if they beat Nottingham Forest they might want him for the next round, I’m not really sure. I’ll have to speak with Nigel.”

Jewell says there is no news on any other targets and says he’s heard nothing regarding Alania Vladikavkaz’s interest in striker Tamás Priskin: “We want to bring players in full-time, not just loan players, so we are actively looking at the market to try and strengthen the squad.”

Jewell will be gone by then, and could we miss out on signing the best centre back we've had since de vos?

... or perhaps SSL does not want to play for a team - who's manager - has lost 11 out of 14? I am sure PJ has a Plan B - he has known about this since August ... oh, I forgot he is a truely terrible manager - who now goes around blaming women linesman for poor results. PJ OUT

Why don't we go for more obtainable targets in League One and Two? Every deal we try to do is a difficult one with obstacles, and that's only for a loan deal! We're a third of the way through the transfer window already, and just a short-term loanee goalkeeper to show for it so far. Very disappointing.

No reason why we should not look abroad as well, seems our scouting network is working wonders.

Ask Marcus Evans about this Mr. Jewell, he can tell you why St Ledger ain't coming, p-45 in the post, you wont be here so St Ledger might not be wanted by the new guy.

I give up! Supporting Ipswich right now is a waste of time.

If Pearson has had a fallout and transfer listed him, why suddenly is he wanted for a cup replay against Forest? I smell BS.

JayITFC - I totally agree with you, someone telling porkies n theres plenty of people who it could be. Player wont want to come here when Jewell could be gone in a week, Evans might not want to give Jewell more money until he shows its not gonna be wasted etc.

This FA cup thing, load of rubbish

What a complete shambles. Why even mention it until he has signed? This is Jewel's fault not Clegg's. Can't keep his big trap shut. Quoting private conversations etc. no wonder he won't sign.

JayITFC, i agree too. Seem's weird when obviously both Nigel and St Ledger have falling out. He's just waiting if Jewell gets sacked!

this club needs its owner to make a statement that puts everyone right.

he wont sack p.j he has already sacked 2 managers he wont want a third so soon. so i say

give p.j a year contract extension to stop all this chit chat.

This is the god's honest truth, I think i could be a great manager! Born and bread Ipswich fan, know the ins and outs of league one and young players and would be willing to sacrifice my left testicle if i did a remotely bad job, i'll even pay my pocket money to old man pegg! If you're reading this Mr Evans meet me at the bobby robson stand at 2:30PM on Saturday.

Evans will have to sack Jewell now, as he can now see good players will not come to play for Jewell.

Evans please get in your good friend Neil Warnock.

Great Management by PJ keeping all attention focused on chasing one defender (SSL) when the real deals are getting tied up behind the scenes. Genius!

All the best deals in the Screwfix sale now out of stock. So glad I worked out what I wanted in advance before Christmas, looked at 'the market' and got in as soon as Jan sales started or I'd be stuffed......,,,,,

Extract from ME website:

Ipswich Town Football Club's organisation and ambitious team parallel the success and achievements of marcus evans, and this association and long-term commitment iwill provide excellent opportunities for both the club and the Group.

When will those opportunities come to the forefront re the club. Sod the group

Maybe ME is stalling the deal?

Let the new manager decide if he wants him first.
