The Portman Road pitch faces an 11.15am inspection after temperatures overnight dropped to as low as -13° in Ipswich.

The pitch has been covered for more than a week with the heated blowers also employed to help ensure that today's game against Middlesbrough goes ahead.

Meanwhile, the decision to call off the Peterborough-West Ham game means that if it goes ahead, Town's match will be shown live in various places overseas.

blues1 added 11:27 - Feb 11 blueconscience, dont you read the articles before posting your comments. it clearly states that the heaters were used. the problem is that where the covers are flat on the pitch, on the wings, those areas dont get the heat & thus. still freeze up. do feel we should be looking at other avenues for our pitch protection. apart from anything else, if the game is off it will cost the club a lot in lost revevnue.
