Klug Set for Town Return
Klug Set for Town Return
Sunday, 19th Feb 2012 22:15

TWTD understands that former Blues coach Bryan Klug is being lined-up for a return to Portman Road. Stalwart Klug was controversially axed by former boss Roy Keane in January 2010 and is currently the assistant director and head of player development at Tottenham’s Academy.

Klug was Town’s assistant boss under Jim Magilton until John Gorman’s appointment, when he moved into a head of football development role, and was taking charge of the reserves at the time of his Portman Road exit.

The 51-year-old was a youth player with the Blues between 1977 and 1983 but failed to make a senior appearance, moving on to Wimbledon (loan), Chesterfield and Peterborough United and then into non-league football.

Klug returned to Portman Road in 1987, joining the coaching staff and in 1998 became the director of the newly formed Academy in an era during which Kieron Dyer, Richard Wright, James Scowcroft, Titus Bramble and others emerged.

In 2005 Klug, who has also had spells as caretaker-manager of the Blues, led the Academy to the club’s third FA Youth Cup before becoming Magilton’s assistant a year later, shortly after Newcastle United had approached him to run their Academy.

The EPPP developments which come into effect next season will see a shake-up at Academy and reserve levels across the board and the Blues will be required to appoint additional full-time coaches whether they opt for a Category One or Category Two youth set-up.

Meanwhile, one of the Sunday tabloids reports that Blues striker Jason Scotland has turned down the chance to join Bristol City on loan.

Scotland will trigger an additional year on his contract at his current wages if he makes another three league starts before the end of the season.

what the hell is going on at ITFC at the moment? first an improvement in form then a move to make ticketing price structure more competitive and now the possible return of Bryan Klug? this is fantastic news (if true) just goes to show that maybe, just maybe the club is starting to listen?

Really hope this is correct.
It has taken a long time but perhaps ME and smeghead are are last learning how to run a football club.

A massive step inthe right direction.

I guess with all the possible upheavall at Spurs, the option of a steadying ship may look more attractive. Whatever the reason, if true, another step in the right direction. What a start for a good week.

Slowly but surely the shadow of the Dark Lord is lifting. Great news if true as there is so much damage to be undone.

Please let this be true because, apart from being the right thing to do, it probably means that Mr. Evans has been reading what we have been saying. COYB

If this is correct itnis the best news that ITFC supporters have had for a very long time and would indicate that the powers that be are starting to listen to the supporters. Bryan is imo the best youth coach in the country and to get him back to what I know he regards as 'home' would be a huge boost in the development of our young players for the future. I hope that this also means we are opting for a Cat 1 status - can't see him returning if we didn't!!!

He is the best coach I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and I played in the current Division 1. He's brilliant, ITFC's worst decision was letting him go.

Really good news if true.

After watching ALB on Saturday, getting Andy Rhodes back might be a good idea too.... Did the Dark Lord sack Andy Rhodes, or was that Magic?

If true, this shows that we are now working to a medium to long term plan. According to my diary we are in Feb but for the past week it feels like Christmas!

Great news if true.
red dust are you having an affair with Jaime Peters, has he proved himself in the long term to be a good consistent player, no. Has he set the world alight during his loans no.
So why would we want to keep him

well i thought the option of lightning speed could be something to call upon... and you know he could have an awakening like Hyam, Martin, Drury if given the chance.. well i can't blame you.. you are an old man and being stuck in your same old thought patterns only allow you to take obvious route when regarding such matters.. i guess your dictated and influenced by the zeitgeist ideas about players in the present and forget what the future can hold for even long standing squad players. Stay in your tiny suffolk box!
