Palace Reserves Game Now Behind Closed Doors
Palace Reserves Game Now Behind Closed Doors
Monday, 20th Feb 2012 14:47

Tuesday afternoon’s reserves friendly against Crystal Palace at Playford Road will now be played behind closed doors. The club initially said fans would be welcome to watch the game against the Eagles.

Town cite “football reasons” as the explanation for the change of policy, which may indicate that one or both clubs could field trialists, something which requires less paperwork if a game is played without spectators present.

Carsey & Dissboyitfc - great posts. All those of you who are saying IF we are trialling someone it should be behind closed doors - excuse me but when we had PROPER reserve team fixtures I do not remember anyone saying the fans couldn't go!! This is what is so wrong with the set up at the moment - they can do just what they like and sod us loyal fans who like to support ALL the players who are on our staff - not just the elite 11 (+ 5 if they get on!!).

Willtheblue... Never suggest again that i have no football knowledge, for wanting clegg out and feeling he is to blame for a lot of what is wrong behind the scene at portman road, everyone has an opinion, but try to deal in facts, i know far more about football than Clegg does and the passion of being a town fan ( 40 years ) HE has a business brain thats for sure, but he needs to know that running a football club is like no other business, he should start by adhering himself to the fans with a better and more considered approach to his Pr. After all marcus evans as a brand is all about Pr. Regarding the change of plan to the reserve fixture, yes it is his fault, an announcement was made saying it was open to public, then it was changed... Should have been left to nearer the game b4 announcing any decision on it, agree? Just typical of Clegg... Clegg out...COyb

Thank god for Willtheblue. Sense on the page at last. In Clegg we have somebody prepared to put true financial stability first and players ego's second - so well done! Look at Rangers for the alternitive? do we really want to go there? Carry on Cleggy - and build this club into a great one again , built on solid foundations not whispy walls which fold all too easy when things do not go right. Time for true supporters to stand up and for the moaners to shut up and let the rest of us enjoy the team. You moan on your own most of the time and do not represent the majority!

Willtheblue - firstly learn grammar and spelling, because it just takes any intelligence out of your post.
Secondly, you need to understand concepts like irony, sarcasm and wit. Eg if the headline read "game off due to earthquake" someone would put "Clegg out" in response, doesn't mean he's being blamed.

Thirdly, you are wrong anyway as Clegg is a tool. He (as I have said many times on here before) is here to be the face of ITFC and his PR gaffs are countless.

Mr Clegg ??? Sorry I meant Willtheblue. How you can say Clegg is not blame for Ipswich's woe's is proof you do not have a inkling what has been happening at our club. Go back and tell Mommy (Mrs Clegg ) your post did not fool any one of the true supporters here at Ipswich. This club seems paranoid that the ground is going to be swamped with Scouts from every club in the UK. Close the door's let no one in,even the supporters may be Scouts. Pathetic..COYB

Tractorted...how ignorant of you to suggest that people who can remember a time when the supporters of Ipswich town were valued by the club, are not true supporters, I support the team not Clegg, I do not know anybody who have supported the town for any length of time who support Clegg. I can only assume you have only supported the team a very short time. Relations between the club and supporters is at very low point. The face of Ipswich town should be a football supporter , who understands business and the football supporter. Clegg out....coyb

I remember the days when every supporter was most welcome to every game - First Team, Reserves, and Youth Team.
In those days you really could follow the Club.

H32.. totally agree with you, i had a couple of mates out of work, they were planning on going to the match, its a shame these types of games might just get people back into watching the town again. There is a divide between the club and the supporters thats for sure...coyb
