Town Target Joins Posh

Peterborough United have signed Town target Tyrone Barnett from Crawley for a fee in excess of £1 million. The Blues showed interest in the 26-year-old during the transfer window, although manager Paul Jewell denied making a bid.

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony says his club fought off plenty of opposition to make the signing: "I am absolutely delighted. We have stolen a march on at least six of our Championship rivals and I can understand why [Crawley manager] Steve Evans is so devastated to lose a key player at such an important stage of the season.'"

Barnett has joined Peterborough on an initial loan until the end of the season with the terms of a subsequent permanent deal agreed between the clubs.

Not bothered at £1m and we'd be better off looking at younger options e.g. Crewe (or pushing the boat out and bringing in certain ex-players! Defence does need sorting and now, if only as cover for the much improved Tommy and Damo.

I've not seen him play but he is getting some good reviews, Posh have got a good record when it comes to signing lower league players who are capable of making the step up....little puzzled why we didn't just take him on loan with a view to a move? That would make sense surely, we'd have little to lose and we could take a look at him..

Players like him have stepped up higher and have done well, so no doubt he cant do the same, his form shows he might be looking for a fair few goals but not prolific. Couldve been a good try but for that price rather not, besides were arent too bad for attacking, like most think, a CB would be better
