Edwards: Town Hungry Like Wolves
Edwards: Town Hungry Like Wolves

Defender Carlos Edwards has likened in-form Ipswich to “a pack of Wolves” as they head for Brighton on Saturday in search of a fifth successive victory.

The Trinidad & Tobago international, who has captained his country and skippered Town in their last two outings, cites the belief gained from a storming 5-1 home win over Championship leaders West Ham United as the prime reason behind their recent revival.

Edwards said: “In my opinion we didn’t play as well against West Ham at our place as we did when we beat them 1-0 at Upton Park earlier in the season. But when you win 5-1 you think ‘If we can beat the leaders like that why should we fear anyone?’

“At the moment the guys are like a pack of wolves. The ball is the prey and it’s as if they see it, smell blood and say to themselves ‘We’re going to kill that ball’.

“I hope nobody takes their foot off the pedal just because we have won four in a row. I don’t see that happening because with the extra hunger they are displaying the guys are now saying they are aiming to qualify for the play-offs.

“That’s great, but if you asked me if we were safe from relegation I would have to say no because you never know what is round the corner in football. What I can say, however, is that as long as we keep scoring goals and keeping clean sheets anything is possible.”
